Job Title: Process Engineer - Converting

Reports to: Director of Operations     

Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, and startup of process equipment identifying, developing, and delivering innovative solutions that improve the reliability, quality and capability of factory equipment, processes, and systems.                          

Job Functions

  • Proven and proficient machine design skills using both 3D and 2D platforms.  This candidate must be able to work alone or in a team environment with engineers and other designers to identify, formulate, and implement design solutions.
  • Installation, checkout, and startup support of manufacturing equipment.
  • Responsible for new and existing equipment and processes including details that improve the reliability, quality and capability of factory equipment, processes, and systems.
  • Generate and document all elements of the equipment design packages.
  • Drive continuous improvement by researching, and recommending, developing and implementing equipment to improve capacity, quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Responsible for capital project management from justification to the implementation of manufacturing equipment. This includes the development equipment specifications, project plans, capital appropriations requests and tracks progress while keeping the internal customers informed on project status.
  • Responsible for the successful installation & start up for new equipment including creation of documentation and training of personnel.
  • Assist Maintenance in all aspects of troubleshooting including mechanical, pneumatic, and controls.

Requirements

  • Direct and coordinate internal and external personnel on the installation of new equipment and equipment improvements.
  • Working knowledge of machine safety and guarding required.
  • Experience with mechanical and controls troubleshooting of factory equipment required.
  • Routine travel to company facilities required.
  • Provide on-call instrument and controls support for plant operations and would require availability, as needed, for plant emergencies 24/7.
  • Must be able to handle high-stress emergency situations.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Ability to prioritize between multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organization skills.
  • Works well collaboratively in a team environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required.
  • 3+ years of related equipment engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Distributive Controls Systems, FTIR, & Gas Chromatographs a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with Statistical Problem Solving, AutoCAD, PLC’s, Servo Motion Control.
