The process engineer uses understanding of process fundamentals, process equipment, refinery practices, and specific technologies to ensure safe, environmentally friendly, reliable, and optimal refinery operation while coordinating and influencing the achievement of these objectives utilizing data driven critical thinking.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree (Required)

  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Six (6) or more years Process engineering experience in refining industry (Required)

  • Evaluates catalyst usage and performance

  • Analyze and identify short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency

  • Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software

  • Evaluates equipment design and process development to compromise between process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness and environment/safety objectives

  • Presents basic sections of operator process training classes, approves process portions in Management of Change (MOC) development, perform process engineering duties in a process hazard analysis (PHAs) on simple units

  • Develops and maintains critical cross-functional relationships (i.e., refinery economics, operations, lab, maintenance, etc.) to optimize unit performance to constraints

  • Employs industry best practices and standards to compare actual operation to the intended process design with advantages and disadvantages
