About the Role:
Join a leading chemical manufacturing facility as a Process Safety Specialist and play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. As the site's process safety expert, you'll lead key initiatives across Process Safety Management, risk reduction, compliance, and operational excellence while partnering closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and EHS teams. This is a highly visible position with the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements that protect people, assets, and the environment.

Here's a glimpse into your day to day:
  • Lead and continuously improve the site's Process Safety Management (PSM) program in accordance with OSHA regulations and corporate process safety standards.
  • Facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), document recommendations, and drive corrective actions to completion.
  • Lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new and modified equipment to ensure safe startup and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the site's Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring modifications are properly reviewed, documented, and implemented.
  • Coordinate and conduct Process Safety Management compliance audits and oversee corrective action plans.
  • Serve as the site's technical resource for process safety, providing guidance to operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership.
  • Maintain and support the facility's EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), including regulatory reporting and prevention program requirements.
  • Analyze process safety metrics and trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen risk management, process reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture through coaching, collaboration, and employee engagement.

You'll be a perfect fit if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or a similar process industry.
  • 3+ years of direct experience with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations.
  • Experience leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and compliance audits.
  • Familiarity with quantitative risk assessments, consequence modeling, reaction kinetics, and pressure relief analysis.
  • Experience with process safety modeling software such as PHAST or similar tools is preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills with the ability to influence across multiple departments.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Pay: $75,000-150,000 Annually (depending on experience)
