Job description

Saalex Corporation is seeking a Business Development Manager in Lexington Park, MD. Saalex Corporation is a professional services company delivering cutting-edge solutions to the Department of War. Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $110k-$130k (depending on experience)

Work Location: Hybrid work/in-office. (see onsite requirements below).

**On-Site Requirements: Work location is hybrid/remote and may require periodic travel up to 50% to DoW customer sites, conferences, and industry events.

Essential Functions:

Support strategic growth initiatives across the Department of War (DoW) by identifying, qualifying, and advancing new business opportunities aligned to Saalex Corporation capabilities. You will help drive pipeline development, customer engagement, capture support, and market positioning efforts focused on Test Range Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Wargaming, Software Development & Engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Software Modernization (Agentic Coding), AI / Unattended Robotic Process Automation (URPA), and IT & Cybersecurity. This role requires close collaboration with capture management, operations, and proposal departments to help shape opportunities, support customer relationships, and position the organization for long-term growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support business development and growth strategy activities across DoW, with special emphasis on Department of the Navy (DoN) mission environments
  • Build and maintain qualified pipeline opportunities aligned to company growth priorities
  • Assist with opportunity identification, opportunity qualification, competitive analysis, and capture support activities to include solution positioning, customer briefings, and executive presentations
  • Develop and maintain customer and teaming relationships across government and industry stakeholders
  • Support proposal development to include proposal writing and color teams
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts across capture, operations, contracts, and finance leadership teams
  • Conduct market research and competitive intelligence activities to identify emerging mission and technology trends
  • Maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365), pipeline forecasting, and opportunity tracking documentation with strong discipline and accuracy
  • Support industry events, conferences, customer engagements, and strategic partnership activities
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, capture management, or proposal development
  • Strong understanding of DoW acquisition lifecycle, FAR/DFARS, and major contract vehicles (e.g., GSA OASIS, IDIQs, MACs)
  • Experience supporting DoW agencies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marines)
  • Proven ability to support or lead pursuits exceeding $30M
  • Proficiency with CRM tools
  • Experience with DoW cybersecurity/compliance requirements (e.g., CMMC, NIST SP 800-171)

Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
