Process Engineer (Automation Engineer)

Reports to: Business UnitManager

We are currently seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will beresponsible for debug and failure identification along with problem resolution on 4 automated assembly lines and various other injection molding and metal processing automations. This position is 80% hands-on troubleshooting on the floor working and 20% project work (projects born from troubleshooting mainly)

Job Type:Full-time, 07:30 am to 04:30pm

Work Location:In person (Gainesville, GA)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct machine and process capability studies and make improvements as needed

  • Supports in FMEA, APQP and Control Plan creation and review process

  • Develop suggestions for investments & give recommendations

  • Conduct complex commissioning / acceptance of equipment and machines

  • Select released suppliers for indirect material, request and evaluate offers in coordination with supplier

  • Define process parameters and ensure adherence

  • Create and adapt work instructions

  • Develop automation concepts, support process development for new projects, coordinate with Industrial Engineering and implement

  • Prepare, evaluate and coordinate complex solution concepts constructively

  • Carry out complex and constructive examinations on function, layout and design of machines and electrical installations (feasibility), select/modify components

  • Develop and carry out the construction of smaller complex process solutions

  • Modify and implement complex existing processes, functions and elements constructively (e.g. extend existing installations)

  • Commissioning of processes and measuring systems

  • To program machine controls and teach robots

  • Ensure safety of machines and installations and design and implement preliminary tests (feasibility study and specifications)

  • Identify and implement potentials for savings

  • Develop and implement measures for process optimization, initiate implementation incl. new partial process solutions and modification of manufacturing processes

  • Participates in 8D problem-solving activities (internal/external), analyze complex alarms and remove root causes

  • Keep automation maintenance history up to date and ensure exchange of information in SharePoint

  • Support beyond BU-level in case of complex process changes and faults

  • Determine root causes for complaints and develop corrective actions

  • Plan spare parts requirements and initiate orders

  • Introduce employees to installations, instruct them and create training material

  • Supervision of interns and bachelor students

  • Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations (environment according ISO14001, compliance, work safety) with company and BU-standards.

  • Initiate process improvement projects using data-driven and statistically designed experiments to enhance quality, reduce cost, enhance safety, and increase earnings

  • Assists quality department to verify process parameters and monitor functionality of quality related devices

  • On call when required

  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum 3+ years relevant work experience and/or Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience

Skills Requirements:

-> Strong knowledge of Siemens PLCs in STL language

-> Strong knowledge of Motoman Yaskawa and Kuka Robots

-> Strong knowledge of CAD programs (preferable CREO)

-> understanding of Servo Drives

-> capable of troubleshooting 24V DC, 110V AC, 230V AC, 400 and 480V AC systems and components

-> capable to hands-on integrate automation components

-> strong documentation skills

-> strong problem solving skills
