What is a private medical professional?

Private medical professionals are healthcare providers who offer medical services outside of the public healthcare system, typically in privately owned clinics, hospitals, or practices. They may include doctors, nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals who serve patients on a fee-for-service basis or through private health insurance. Private medical professionals often provide shorter wait times, personalized care, and a broader range of services compared to public healthcare settings. Patients seeking more flexibility or specific treatments often turn to private medical care. These professionals must still meet national standards and regulations for medical practice.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in private medical practice, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in private medical practice often face challenges such as managing administrative tasks, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adapting to evolving healthcare regulations. Balancing clinical responsibilities with the demands of running a business, such as billing and practice management, can be particularly demanding. Many practitioners address these challenges by leveraging electronic health record systems, employing dedicated administrative staff, and staying current with continuing education and compliance training. Effective communication and teamwork with support staff also play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and high-quality patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a private medical professional?

To thrive as a Private Medical Professional, you need accredited medical qualifications, clinical expertise, and relevant licensure (such as MD or DO) along with experience in private practice. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, telemedicine platforms, and practice management software is often required. Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and business acumen set individuals apart in this role. These abilities ensure high-quality patient care, confidentiality, and effective practice management in a competitive private healthcare environment.

Job description

FYI: this is not an active job opening. We are looking to connect with qualified Registered Nurses (RNs) who may be considered for future roles at our private concierge medicine practice (primary care). By submitting your resume you are expressing interest in being contacted about potential opportunities that align with your background & experience.

Open roles: Our current job board here with all openings in New York City, Florida, and California.

Private Medical has spent the last 20 years creating a new category of concierge medicine —
private medicine — by designing a system that honors the relationship between patients, physicians, and each member of the care team.

Based in California, New York, and Florida our physician-led teams work in concert with our Gynecologist, Naturopathic Medicine Doctor, curated local specialists, elite medical centers, and specialists around the world, to provide relationship focused, evidence-based, longitudinal care to our members/patients and their families. Private Medical is, by design, privately held and free from any conflicts of interests.

What We're Looking For:

We are interested in connecting with RNs who bring:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of patient care and coordination
  • Strong clinical work experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting
  • Sound clinical judgement and critical thinking skills with the ability to anticipate needs and escalate appropriately
  • Top tier communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with physicians and team members to deliver a high touch and high quality experience for patients
  • A calm, organized, and proactive approach in a service oriented environment

At Private Medical, we know that a great experience for patients, physicians, and the entire team transpires when people from different geographies, religions, ethnicities, political affiliations, genders, abilities, and creeds engage in collaboration. It is vital that we remain curious and compassionate towards ourselves and others, that we celebrate the new perspectives diversity invites us to see, and that we learn and adapt to the influence of our community to foster a safe and collaborative space.
