Executive Housekeeper

A private estate in the Washington, DC area is seeking an experienced, standards-driven Executive Housekeeper to own the housekeeping function of a large, beautifully maintained private residence. This is a hands-on leadership role and requires someone who brings both technical expertise and skill, as well as the confidence to lead, train, and elevate a team of housekeeping staff. The ideal candidate has deep experience in high-end private homes, understands the rhythm and nuance of working in a principal's primary residence, and holds themselves and those around them to an exceptionally high standard. High-end hospitality experience is a plus, but private household experience is what matters most here.

In addition to overseeing all day-to-day housekeeping operations, this individual will play a key role in designing and maintaining the structure of the household's cleaning and service schedule. This includes organizing the team's daily workflow, establishing clear zones and rotations, and building a consistent housekeeping program encompassing daily graces, deep cleaning schedules, linen care, and overall home upkeep standards.

This person will report directly to the Estate Manager and will take full ownership of the housekeeping vertical across a 13,000+ square foot primary residence, a pool house, and an additional nearby support property.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all housekeeping operations across the primary residence, pool house, and additional property.
• Personally perform detailed, hands-on housekeeping to the highest standard of cleanliness and care
• Lead, train, and manage a small housekeeping team - setting clear expectations, providing ongoing guidance, approving time sheets, and ensuring consistency and quality across all staff
• Develop, implement, and maintain housekeeping systems, routines, and standards from the ground up, including organizing and assigning checklists to the most appropriate areas to ensure clarity, consistency, and accountability
• Manage and make recommendations on cleaning products and supplies for a high-end private residence; while there is an approved core list in place, the family is open to thoughtful suggestions aligned with preferences
• Care for fine furnishings, fabrics, art, and surfaces with the knowledge and discretion that luxury materials require
• Oversee laundry and wardrobe care, including steaming, pressing, and manage  dry cleaning program
• Communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse team, providing detailed instruction and consistent follow-through
• Maintain impeccable organization throughout all household storage areas, closets, and linen rooms
• Report directly to the Estate Manager and serve as the household's point of accountability for all housekeeping matters

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a housekeeper in high-end private residences - this is non-negotiable
• Proven ability to lead and train a housekeeping team, including setting standards and holding others accountable
• Deep knowledge of luxury cleaning products, proper care for fine surfaces, fabrics, and furnishings, and best practices in private household housekeeping
• A meticulous eye for detail with high personal standards and zero tolerance for cutting corners
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal
• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly direct and train staff
• Experienced using workplace technology, including G Suite, Slack, WhatsApp, and other communication and productivity tools
• Calm, professional, and solution-oriented - someone who leads by example and brings a positive, collaborative presence to the team
• Monday through Friday availability required, occasional weekends
• Local to the Washington, DC area strongly preferred; candidates with ties to DC and open to relocation will be considered
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, able to pass a comprehensive background check, and provide strong professional references

Compensation

• $60+ per hour
• Full benefits package
