How much do private equity jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 14, 2026, the average yearly pay for private equity in Indiana is $95,328.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $65,700.00 and $114,200.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in private equity, and why are they important?

To thrive in Private Equity, you need strong financial analysis, deal evaluation, and due diligence skills, typically supported by a degree in finance, economics, or business and experience in investment banking or consulting. Proficiency with financial modeling tools like Excel, valuation platforms such as Capital IQ, and knowledge of relevant certifications like the CFA are valuable. Exceptional negotiation, networking, and strategic thinking abilities set top performers apart in this field. These skills ensure you can identify lucrative investments, manage complex transactions, and create value for portfolio companies and investors.

What is private equity?

Private equity refers to investment funds that buy and restructure companies that are not publicly traded on a stock exchange. Private equity firms typically raise capital from institutional and accredited investors to acquire stakes in private companies, improve their performance, and eventually sell them for a profit. The industry plays a significant role in corporate finance by providing capital, strategic guidance, and operational expertise to help businesses grow and succeed. Careers in private equity often involve deal sourcing, financial analysis, and portfolio management.

What are different types of jobs in private equity?

Jobs in private equity firms focus on accounting and management. In these positions, you may conduct financial research on companies, present reports detailing your findings to company executives, provide investment suggestions to help maximize returns, and analyze topics like the competitive landscape of a company you are considering investing in. Private equity jobs also often involve working directly with investors and managing multiple pools of money. Private equity firms typically have less separation between positions than other industries because they tend to hire a small, highly skilled group of employees. Some firms focus on the entire economy, while other companies specialize in particular sectors and may expect employees to have additional training or experience. For example, a private equity firm working exclusively with health care companies may prefer employees who were previously an investment advisor for a hospital or similar medical facility.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in private equity, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in private equity often encounter challenges such as managing multiple portfolio companies simultaneously, balancing short-term operational improvements with long-term value creation, and navigating complex negotiations during deal structuring. Time management and prioritization are crucial, as deal cycles can be unpredictable and fast-paced. Building strong relationships with portfolio company management teams and staying current with industry trends can help PE professionals address these challenges and succeed in the role.

Why Join MRG?

Best-in-class value proposition: 90th percentile compensation + top 5% PTO + 2-year ownership in stable physician-led practice.

  • Comprehensive benefits: Health, malpractice w/tail, retirement, $3,500/year CME, signing bonus, and relocation.

  • Cutting-edge technology: Epic EMR, PowerScribe, AI-augmented mammo, GE Signa HDxt MRI, remote reading capable.

  • Collaborative culture: Physician-led, democratic governance, no private equity, exclusive hospital contracts since 1970s, "equal partnershipโ€”no buy-in nonsense" (partner quote).

  • Chicagoland advantage: 30-min Chicago access + IN tax savings ($15K+/year vs IL); partners live South Loop, Munster, or south suburbs.

Stable practice with longstanding Community Healthcare System contracts, excellent reputation, high Chicago fellowship recruitment.

Join where your MSK/Neuro expertise is valued, work-life balance prioritized, rapid ownership delivered. BC/BE Diagnostic Radiology; fellowship preferred. Residents/fellows encouraged. IN license or eligible. J-1/H-1B welcome.
