DESCRIPTION
Slows Bar BQ is looking for an energetic Catering Sales Manager to drive the growth of our Detroit area catering operation.
What You'll Do
  • Manage & Grow Sales: Field inbound inquiries from online forms and phone calls while proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to grow our catering footprint.
  • Consult & Customize: Guide guests through menu selection and service styles tailored to their budget and event needs.
  • Coordinate Diverse Event Formats: Manage communication for all catering tiers, including pick-ups, deliveries with set-up, staffed events, and food truck requests.
  • Nurture Relationships: Maintain connections with our extensive list of loyal, returning corporate and private clients.
  • Collaborate Daily: Partner with the kitchen and BOH teams to ensure flawless event execution and order accuracy.
  • Over-Communicate: Guest counts change, event start-time times fluctuate, guests with dietary considerations join events. Detailed, timely communication to all departments is critical to event success.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 2+ years in catering sales, event management with a proven track record of building sales.
  • Experience with industry software. Familiarity with Toast Catering and Caterease is a major plus
  • High energy, polish, and enthusiastic communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple event calendars and sales pipelines simultaneously
  • Excellent internal communication - ability to work well behind the scenes with all areas of the business (BOH, Banquet Staff)
  • Must be able to maintain grace under pressure, handle curveballs
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed, supervising events

Slows Bar Bq opened in Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood, in 2005. 20 years later Slows operates that original flagship location, Carryout & Catering restaurant Slows To Go in Detroit's Midtown, as well as Slows Bar Bq Ann Arbor and Slows Bar Bq Berkley. Slows also has a food truck and runs gameday stands inside Ford Field, Comerica Park, and Little Caesars Arena.
