Job description

About the Role
Siemens is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Lead Data Product Owner (LDPO) to join our growing Digital Business and Data Innovation organization. This is a senior-level leadership role designed for a seasoned professional who brings deep expertise in data product strategy, digital innovation, and cross-functional team leadership.
In this role, you will operate at the intersection of data engineering, AI, and business strategy, defining and driving the vision for enterprise-grade data products that create measurable customer value and fuel new digital business opportunities. You will lead a virtual team of Data Product Owners, serve as a strategic advisor to senior stakeholders, and act as an innovation champion across the organization.
The level and scope of this role reflect its strategic importance, complexity, and organizational impact, with clear accountability for shaping data product direction, influencing senior stakeholders, and enabling scalable digital business outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
Vision, Strategy & Digital Innovation
  • Own and drive the end-to-end data product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap, fully aligned with Siemens' global business strategy and growth objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and champion new business opportunities enabled by data and digitalization, including cloud-based Integrated Operations & Services, AI-driven predictive maintenance, digital twin & simulation approaches, and data-as-a-product models.
  • Lead enterprise-wide trend scouting and white-space innovation initiatives, assessing their future business potential and translating insights into actionable product strategy.
  • Architect and promote new data-driven business models in co-creation with Sales, R&D, Product Management, and customers, with a sharp focus on customer experience, journey design, and scalable go-to-market approaches.
  • Think and act in ecosystems: leverage internal and external networks, partnerships, and platforms to accelerate innovation and maximize data product impact.
Product Ownership & Delivery Excellence
  • Hold full accountability for the data product backlog, prioritizing initiatives that deliver the highest business value, drive adoption, and generate measurable outcomes.
  • Champion rapid learn-build-test cycles with early and continuous customer validation, maintaining relentless focus on delivering tangible value at speed.
  • Apply an open innovation and open failure culture, showing resilience in the face of organizational barriers, pivoting strategically when needed, and keeping innovation momentum alive across the portfolio.
  • Define and track KPIs and OKRs for all data products, ensuring performance visibility and data-driven iteration across the product lifecycle.
Senior Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement
Serve as the primary strategic interface between data product teams and C-suite and other senior business leaders, translating complex data capabilities into compelling business narratives.
  • Align and influence senior stakeholders across business units, data science, engineering, legal, and compliance to ensure organizational buy-in and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead and manage organizational change associated with digital transformation initiatives spanning digital business models, IT innovation, process digitization, customer experience, and user enablement.
  • Act as a coach and thought leader within cross-functional teams, breaking down silos and fostering an ecosystem mindset across the organization.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a virtual team of Data Product Owners, setting clear direction, fostering high performance, and building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Establish best practices, frameworks, and standards for data product management across the organization, elevating the overall maturity and capability of the team.
  • Inspire and energize the team and broader organization with passion, vision, and a commitment to innovation excellence.
Data Governance, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all data products meet the highest standards of data quality, governance, metadata management, and regulatory compliance, including US data privacy regulations and applicable international standards.
  • Champion data governance as a strategic enabler, embedding quality, trust, and compliance into every stage of the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with legal, compliance, and data governance teams to proactively manage risk and ensure responsible data use across all products.
AI, Advanced Analytics & Technology Leadership
  • Define and execute an AI and advanced analytics integration strategy across the data product portfolio, identifying high-impact use cases and driving adoption of machine learning, predictive analytics, and generative AI capabilities.
  • Provide strategic direction on data technology choices, including data lakes, data catalogues, cloud platforms, and modern data stack architectures, ensuring decisions are aligned with long-term product and business goals.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging data and AI trends, continuously bringing new ideas and approaches into the organization.
Your Profile
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced business degree is a strong plus, reflecting the strategic and commercial nature of this senior role.

  • Hands-on familiarity with modern data technologies: data lakes, data warehouses, data catalogues, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, and API-driven architectures.
  • Proven experience driving AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics integration within product strategy and delivery.
Leadership & Strategic Competencies
  • Exceptional ability to set strategic direction, inspire teams, and drive organizational change at scale.
  • Executive-level communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into clear business value for C-suite audiences.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience defining business cases, ROI models, and go-to-market strategies for data products.
  • Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and ability to lead through ambiguity in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments.
  • Proactive ecosystem thinker with a strong external network and a passion for co-creation with customers and partners.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
