Job Title: Machine Operator II - Glass
Work Schedule: 1st shift
Location: P2 - Richmond, VA
What we're looking for:
We are looking for a Machine Operator II who will be responsible for fabricating products using proper tools and machines. Operate and/or use related machinery, equipment, and tools necessary to complete assembly / parts fabrication to specifications, which include hoists, slings, grinders (portable & bench), drills, presses, punches, saws, bending machines, tape measure, hand tools, etc. Machine Operator II is responsible for operating glass automated equipment to assemble custom cut to size glass packs. Operator is responsible for maintaining the equipment through daily, weekly, and as needed preventive maintenance. Operator supports the glass assembly staff ensuring product produced is to specification. Additionally, operator supports the glass assembly line by operating in different areas within or off the line as required.
What you'll be responsible for in this role:
  • Fabricate assemblies / parts for products and changes to existing products per engineering documents and established production standards.
  • Set-up, and lay out work using fixtures and guides to fabricate parts and assemblies.
  • Arrange parts for fabrication and staging processes.
  • Manually change set-up parameters as needed.
  • Selects set-up changes for production via PLC software.
  • Checks Quality of product produced initially and throughout the day as required.
  • Intermediate troubleshooting of equipment functions via PLC alarms.
  • Supports staff handling and offloading glass as needed.
  • Basic Preventative Maintenance.
  • Ability to multi task with the operation of equipment and interactions with team members.
  • Review finished assemblies and parts to ensure accuracy against drawings and BOMs.
  • Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
  • Diagnose process and quality issues and make improvement recommendations to department supervisor.
  • Reject defective parts and material according to policy.
  • Ensure safe, careful use, treatment, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Participate in cross training program-train and be trained.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What are the basic qualifications?
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1+ years of production machine operator experience

Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements: (The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Must be able to lift/pull/push 50 lbs. up to 50 % of the shift.
  • Must be able to stand/walk/bend/twist for prolonged periods up to 10 hours/day as needed per production area.
  • Ability to make repetitive motions on the machine up to 40 % of the shift
