Job description

Working Conditions:

Employee will be operating in a warehouse environment with exposure to loud machinery. Must be able to

lift 50 pounds.

Basic Purpose:

To produce high volume, priority copies on a deadline basis for Navy Federal Business Units and entire Navy Federal staff. To maintain print production equipment in working order. Perform basic bindery functions and operate bindery equipment under supervision. Package and prepare print jobs for delivery Performs under direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Produce and deliver high volume scheduled and on demand print projects

• Receive print production work orders, analyzing size, complexity, and finishing requirements, prioritizing

to ensure orders are completed in a time efficient manner and deadlines are met

• Electronically access and run print ready files, utilizing most appropriate materials and processing

equipment for production

• Perform bindery functions on one or more types of bindery equipment to cut/trim, mount, fold, collate,

drill, and bind a variety of printed material sizes and weights per print requests

• Ensure quality standards are met during all stages of work in process, ensuring accuracy, production

schedules and cost efficiencies are met; escalate issues as needed

• Identify errors and problems and take appropriate corrective action; escalate recurring workflow or

operational issues to management

• Prepare and package finished projects to be shipped; complete supporting documents needed for

shipment

• Deliver completed projects to designated points of contact, obtain proof of delivery

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable printing and bindery services through

conferences, seminars and continued education

• Maintain Print Operations printer/bindery equipment and supplies; perform scheduled daily, weekly and

monthly routine cleaning

• Escalate equipment issues and other maintenance related items to designated team members

• Provide and maintain a clean, efficient and safe working environment at all times

• Set up programs for the guillotine cutter needed to accurately complete the job and to meet printing

deadlines

• Consult with leadership to ensure essential materials and supplies are stocked and readily available for

print production and equipment maintenance

• Assist in the completion of weekly inventories and make proper notifications at inventory re-order levels

• Organize viable scrap material for future use and properly dispose of waste daily or as needed

• Responsible for powering down equipment daily and ensure all tools are put away at the end of each

work shift

• Stock ordered supplies in designated locations

• Operate material handling equipment and other non-bindery equipment needed for supporting tasks

within Print Operations

• Performs other related duties as required or appropriate

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Experience operating and maintaining various bindery equipment

• Basic knowledge of printing related bindery functions

• Ability to interpret printing specifications and prioritize

• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

• Effective organizational, planning and time management skills

• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and set priorities

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

• Effective skill interpreting and applying oral and written instructions

• Basic skill with Adobe Acrobat , Microsoft Suite, and associated programs

• High school education or equivalent

Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• High school education or equivalent

• Exposure to operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining a digital printer-copier press, large format printer, laminator, and various bindery and finishing equipment

• Familiarity with various grades and weights of paper, vinyl, and other print materials

• Ability to interpret and understand client printing specifications, requirements, and expectations

• Software skills including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat Pro
