Job Title: Lab Assistant
Location: Tucker, GA, 30084, United States
Job Type: Contract (6 Months)
Shift Details:
  • 1st Shift (Eastern Time Zone)
  • Tuesday to Saturday: 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Every 3rd Sunday Rotation Required
Job Summary:
  • The Lab Assistant performs a variety of routine laboratory functions to support laboratory professionals and ensure efficient specimen processing and testing operations. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards within a clinical laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Specimen Processing & Laboratory Support
  • Sort and receive specimens within the department.
  • Centrifuge specimens and prepare samples for testing.
  • Print and apply specimen labels as needed.
  • Build worklists and aliquot specimens into sample cups.
  • Check specimens for clots and fibrin.
  • Perform inoculation and slide preparation activities.
  • Store, retrieve, and track laboratory specimens.
Equipment & Quality Control:
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments.
  • Record laboratory data, including temperature logs and charts.
  • Prepare reagents and/or media for testing procedures.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) tasks as assigned.
  • Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
Laboratory Operations:
  • Resolve pending worklists and locate missing samples.
  • Decontaminate laboratory work areas.
  • Maintain departmental records and files.
  • Change gas cylinders as required.
  • Properly dispose of biohazardous materials.
  • Utilize laboratory information systems and computer applications.
  • Follow all PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Complete required training and competency assessments.
Qualifications:
Education:
