Job description

Job Summary:
Pylon is revolutionizing the mortgage industry by creating an API-first, programmatic infrastructure that automates credit, compliance, capital, and operations. They are seeking a Senior Product Manager to oversee the mortgage origination lifecycle and drive core product experiences using applied AI. The role involves building scalable infrastructure, managing integrations, and collaborating with engineering and account management teams to ensure customer success.
Responsibilities:
β€’ Be a visionary builder with a clear perspective on how to build scalable, modular origination infrastructure from point of sale through loan delivery to the capital markets
β€’ Challenge convention and the status quo – just because the market does something one way, doesn’t mean it’s the correct or most optimal way
β€’ Help onboard and manage 3rd party integrations
β€’ Leverage AI and LLMs in both your daily workflow (specs, designs, etc.), but also as a meaningful part of your solution space to solve problems
β€’ Be a thought partner and build a strong feedback loop with engineering
β€’ Play an integral role in spec-ing, building, and launching support for new loan products
β€’ Be a strong partner to our GTM and Account Management teams – supporting the deal process and ensuring our customers are successful
β€’ Have strong, principled opinions that you’re willing to defend. We have a culture of vigorous discussion and debate on decisions. We’ll push you to articulate your choices, and defend them where necessary
β€’ Are known to ruthlessly prioritize and maintain organizational focus. Our full stack approach is ambitious – you are constantly driving those around you to do the highest ROI work. You’re willing to say no to the best ideas at the wrong time
β€’ Comfortable operating in highly regulated markets whilst optimizing for performance. Building compliance into our platform and respecting regulation is a non-negotiable. We partner with regulators to drive innovation in the face of technological advances and improve outcomes for borrowers. We play fairly, squarely and by the rules. We play to win
β€’ Obsess over the customer and uphold the highest standard. We build for our customers and their borrowers. We will always do what it takes to make them successful on the platform. They are the beating heart of our business
β€’ Scalable software approach first, and operational workaround last. A guiding principle at Pylon is that anything in the backend mortgage process done by a human is a bug. Mortgage is complex, and we can't automate everything right away. You’ll need to surface issues, lead discussion around the best long term solution, document it, and if we need to temporarily create a manual workaround, make everyone aware
β€’ Manage many partners effectively. You will need to oversee numerous 3rd party partners to ensure high quality, on time originations. You will need to build deep relationships and drive consistent results
β€’ Have great ideas, and lots of them. You should see opportunities all around you to make the product and team around you better. We’ll provide the environment to act on those ideas
β€’ Be willing to get in the weeds. You should be able to understand the space like a 20-year veteran in a short amount of time.
Qualifications:
Required:
β€’ 4+ years of experience in the software industry (ideally as a product manager or engineer)
β€’ Significant experience building 0-1 enterprise software in regulated industries
β€’ Ability and interest to dig into mortgage and build a deep understanding of the full value chain
β€’ Experience conducting user research using a variety of methods
β€’ Ability to run SQL queries to analyze user data and identify trends and insights
β€’ Experience creating wireframes and workflow diagrams using Figma or similar tools
β€’ Strong design sense and ability to work closely with designers to build high-quality products
β€’ Ability to effectively manage strategic partners
β€’ Must live in or be willing to relocate to Palo Alto (CA) or New York City
Preferred:
β€’ Experience working on mortgage products and/or fintech infrastructure strongly preferred
Company:
Building the mortgage-as-a-service infrastructure platform Founded in 2022, the company is headquartered in New York, USA, with a team of 11-50 employees. The company is currently Early Stage.
