What Drives Success

Location: Stone Mountain, GA  (This position is 100% onsite in Stone Mountain, GA requiring attendance in-office 5 days a week, Monday-Friday)

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Technical Architect to lead the design and delivery of next-generation enterprise IoT platforms built with an AI-first engineering mindset. In this role, you will architect scalable, secure, resilient, and cloud-native solutions while remaining actively involved in software design, development, and technical problem-solving.

Success in this role requires deep Java engineering expertise, strong architectural vision, and the ability to lead through influence. You'll write production-quality code, drive key technical decisions, mentor engineers, remove complex delivery obstacles, and continuously elevate engineering standards across the organization.

If you thrive at the intersection of architecture, innovation, and hands-on development, this is an opportunity to shape the future of intelligent connected systems.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Architecture & System Design:

  • Design scalable, reliable, secure, and fault-tolerant enterprise systems across distributed applications, integration, data, and cloud-native layers.
  • Define architecture patterns for AI-native capabilities, APIs, event-driven services, observability, resiliency, and performance at enterprise scale.
  • Evaluate technology options and define pragmatic technical direction across cloud, APIs, event-driven services, integrations, observability, and automation.

Technical Leadership & Delivery:

  • Spend 50%+ of time on hands-on technical work including coding, design reviews, debugging, performance tuning, AI-assisted development, and complex issue resolution.
  • Translate business and product needs into practical architecture decisions, technical roadmaps, and delivery-ready engineering plans.
  • Write production-quality code daily in Java and/or Python, while also guiding implementation across TypeScript/JavaScript, React, APIs, and distributed platform services.
  • Guide engineers through complex design and implementation trade-offs while ensuring solutions remain practical, supportable, and delivery ready.
  • Lead technical staff through architecture execution, sprint delivery, code reviews, quality gates, and production readiness activities.
  • Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure technical delivery aligns with business outcomes.
  • Own technical delivery risks, remove engineering blockers, and ensure designs are implemented with measurable quality, reliability, and performance outcomes.

Enterprise Platform & Integration Expertise:

  • Design enterprise-grade integration patterns across internal systems, external platforms, APIs, data pipelines, and real-time/event-driven architectures.
  • Understand infrastructure layers from Kubernetes and cloud-native runtime operations to GPU inference stacks, model-serving patterns, and scalable workload deployment.
  • Ensure solutions are observable, secure, resilient, cost-aware, and supportable in production environments.
  • Establish strong practices across automated testing, CI/CD, observability, rollout safety, incident response, production support, and operational excellence.
  • Create reusable technical patterns, reference architectures, documentation, and engineering playbooks to standardize delivery across teams.

What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience building and operating enterprise software, including:
    • 8+ years of hands-on Java engineering experience with deep expertise in JVM internals, compiler behavior, concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization.
    • 5+ years leading enterprise architecture across applications, cloud-native platforms, APIs, integrations, data, and highly available production systems.
  • Proven experience designing scalable, reliable, secure, fault-tolerant, and production-ready enterprise platforms, including distributed systems, IoT platforms, Building Management Systems (BMS), connected devices, and telemetry environments.
  • Strong architecture experience with microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, integration patterns, DevSecOps, observability, and cloud-native engineering.
  • Hands-on experience developing modern full-stack and platform solutions using technologies such as Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Python, Go, APIs, and distributed infrastructure.
  • Experience applying AI-native development practices, AI/ML or GenAI services, automation frameworks, intelligent system design patterns, and AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms to accelerate software delivery.
  • Familiarity with multi-agent AI systems, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, agent-to-agent communication, and emerging AI orchestration frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead highly technical engineering teams while remaining hands-on with architecture, software design, coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, mentoring, and delivery execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish technical direction, drive architecture quality, ensure production readiness, and lead engineering execution across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and deliver high-impact solutions.
