SALARY: Commensurate with experience
REQUIREMENTS: NYS Administrative Certification - School Building Leader (SBL) and/or School District Leader (SDL) certification preferred; at least five (5) years of teaching experience. SBL Internship certificate candidates may also be considered.
We are seeking candidates who have proven leadership skills, are collaborative, visible to staff, students and parents and committed to excellence.
SUMMARY:
Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting the Principal in the areas of leadership, supervision, discipline and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. Specific job responsibilities determined in consultation with the principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
The Assistant Principal will assist the Principal in the following as required:
Serves as the administrator in charge when Principal is not present in the building.
Provides instructional leadership and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of programs within the building. Provides ongoing feedback related to district approved programs.
Establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
Supervises and evaluates staff.
Aids in the coordination of review and revision of curriculum.
Monitors instructional plans and activities to ensure alignment with district curriculum and NYS Learning Standards.
Monitors assessment data and uses data for instructional planning for improvement of student achievement and program evaluation.
Compiles disciplinary data and completes the NYS VADIR report.
Manages and evaluates the operation of the school to ensure a safe and orderly climate (e.g. oversees arrival and dismissal, fire drills, lock downs, etc.).
Ensures compliance with all laws, board policies, and civil regulations.
Collaborates with outside agencies to support student needs.
Assists with the organization of all school examination schedules and the supervision of exam administration.
Keeps the Superintendent, other appropriate administrators and/or Human Resources informed of school activities and problems such as transportation, discipline, parental concerns, etc.
Serves as a role model for students and staff, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
Maintains visibility with students, staff, caregivers and the BOE.
Provides supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom in accordance with building and district expectations.
Reports to school on time.
Maintains confidentiality.
Adheres to and enforces the CCSD Code of Conduct.
Participates, when appropriate, in continuous professional growth and development related to educational administration.
Attends required meetings and follows building rules, procedures and district policies.
Maintains positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with students, staff, caregivers, colleagues, district personnel and community.
Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, staff, caregivers and community.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct supervision to all staff.
OTHER:
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
