Minimum Requirements (Project Controls – Scheduling)

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Engineering or related degree
  • +7 years of professional experience in Construction Management and Scheduling
  • Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft project is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Experience in Baseline and Update Reviews
  • Explain two projects that demonstrate your Baseline and update review experience

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical guidance to the Project Controls specialist/support staff
  • Coordinate efforts for effective implementation of enterprise scheduling software, Oracle Primavera P6
  • Provide project control support for major projects, develop and maintain project schedules
  • Prepare monthly, quarter performance and ad-hoc cost /schedule reports
  • Prepare performance measurement reports on schedule variance, cost variance based on critical path analysis and schedule risk analysis
  • Maintain engineering resource codes in P6
  • Manage monthly project status and resource codes updates
  • Document project controls execution plan, project controls procedures, and coordination of progress reports
  • Develop Engineering Project Controls and scheduling guidelines
  • Provide training and administer Primavera Scheduling software Generation of data queries – writing scripts, stored procedures, views, backup data, pivots, etc.,

Job Description : Project Controls Specialist

  • Updating schedules in Oracle’s Primavera project scheduling software on a monthly basis or as needed in concert with the project managers;
  • Reviewing project status with project managers including scope, schedule and costs;
  • Creating and maintaining resource loaded project schedules in Oracle’s Primavera project scheduling software;
  • Maintaining proper project and activity codes in the Primavera system;
  • Assist assigned project managers and others as required in the preparation of project budgets; updating project forecasts; establishing, maintaining and closing account codes; and preparing monthly and ad-hoc project/program status and performance reports;
  • Support the business Department in Capital Planning prioritization.
  • Perform project/program/portfolio cost and schedule analysis
  • Providing training and technical assistance to the project managers in understanding current and future Port Authority project control systems and enhancements.

Reporting Location as Required: Services are anticipated to be at the NY city and Jersey City, NJ, but are subject to change

General Tasks

  • Analyzing, providing design and programming services;

Anticipated Project Tasks

  • Utilizing Oracle’s Primavera software for monthly schedule updating, creating and maintaining resource loaded project schedules, maintaining project and activity codes.
  • Preparing executive level summary reports, project proposals, budgets, establishing, maintaining and closing account codes.
  • Providing training and technical assistance in Authority project control systems and enhancements.
  • Coordinating and mentoring lower level project control specialists.
  • Assist Program Director and Program Managers in preparation of executive level summary reports;
  • Perform cost and schedule variance analysis for the Program Director and Program Managers

General Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Project control concepts, processes and procedures, cost control, project and performance reporting, scheduling, risk management protocols, capital planning and assessment.
  • Ability to achieve complex goals within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several assignments.
  • Extensive experience in managing and influencing diverse work groups and project teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively on the topics of decision-making, problem solving and negotiations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and professional communication at group level.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Accounting, Economic or Business Administration or Project Management Professional certification with degree in technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in related project industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle/Primavera software
  • Valid driver’s license
