Job description

Little Rapids Corporation (LRC) is looking for Press Operators at our facility in Green Bay, WI! What do we have to offer?

LRC has two divisions, Graham Professional, converting paper products for the medical and beauty industries, and Rapids Paper + Packaging, uniting Shawano Specialty Papers and Nexxa โ€“ Print Division under a single brand. Rapids Paper + Packaging brings together specialty paper, flexible packaging, advanced printing, and fuctional coating technologies.

Work Location & Schedule

Location: 2970 Walker Drive, Green Bay, WI 54311

Schedule: 12-hour 2-2-3 non-rotating schedule; night shift openings 6:00 pm - 6:00 am

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure press is running at full capacity, while working to improve efficiencies, and producing quality product that meets customer specifications and demand.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement efforts to include Kaizen, 5S and other events, as required of this position. This includes activities to this specific position/department, as well as company-wide initiatives.
  • Operate the press safely and identify unsafe work behaviors, areas and methods that have opportunities for improvement.
  • Complete and maintain accurate production records both manually and with computer systems to maintain inventory control.
  • Manufacture quality finished products that meet customer specifications and meet or exceed established production standards.
  • Perform required set-ups and changeovers as required including but not limited to;
    • Determining print job specifications and all activities relating to press set up, selecting proper Anilox rolls, printing stock and print sleeves, threading material into press, adjusting slitter knives, preparing inks for upcoming work order to match print deck location and ink up press, etc.
    • Run make ready rolls, check quality specifications, run machine and print, conduct quality checks as needed based on specifications and record in system, pull sample rolls and archive, properly label and tag finished and/or RTS rolls, collect retain samples, package rolls according to customer specifications and have product taken to warehouse.
  • Perform machine clean-ups as required and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Identify and react to production problems such as, shortage of raw materials, safety issues, inventory issues, out of spec raw materials, quality concerns, etc.
  • Troubleshoot machine problems and determine which problems need to escalate to maintenance and/or plant supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as required, e.g. safety, quality, production, team, informational, etc.
  • All other assignments assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform basic computer operations such as email, data entry, navigation skills within press operation and data systems, and operate a computer keyboard
  • Mathematical skills required to compute percentages, weights, and must be able to measure and calculate the supplies required to complete each job as scheduled
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, such as machine operation instructions, safety instructions, etc.
  • Operate powered vehicles such as forklift and scissors lift, will need to be able to on and off the vehicle multiple times during the shift. Forklift and clamp truck certification.
  • Manual dexterity and accurate eyesight, including color vision is required for workers.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and physical.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Self-motivated, but also able to work as an effective team member.
  • Able to work 12- hour shifts and overtime as needed
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Perform heavy work, defined as ability to lift up to 70 lb maximum with help, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs
    • Work around fast-moving machinery
    • Walk/stand, bending, stooping, working with hands majority of the time
    • Exposure to noise levels and will be required to wear various PPE items based on the task being performed, including, but not limited to, hearing protection, eye protection, hat or hair net, hi-vis vest, safety shoes, cut gloves, etc.
