Job description

Freight Brokerage Manager | Flatbed Transportation | Los Angeles, CA

$100K–$130K + Bonus | On-site, 5 days/week

We’re partnering with a growing national trucking and transportation company to hire a Freight Brokerage Manager to lead and expand its third-party freight brokerage operation. The company operates a dedicated fleet of approximately 100 trucks moving primarily flatbed freight and building materials across the U.S.; this role will own the freight that falls outside company capacity—sourcing carriers, bidding lanes, negotiating rates, managing 3PL relationships and building a reliable partner carrier network.

The fleet operation is established. Now the opportunity is to grow brokerage: bring more freight management in-house, create greater competition across carriers and 3PLs, improve cost and margin, and build the structure to scale.

Reporting directly to the President, you'll:

  • Own day-to-day brokerage performance and P&L
  • Source capacity through DAT Power, Truckstop.com and other load boards
  • Build and manage a strong flatbed carrier network
  • Bid lanes and negotiate carrier and 3PL rates
  • Establish lane-level pricing and cost-per-mile benchmarks
  • Determine with dispatch which loads move on company assets vs. outside capacity
  • Track margin, profitability, service levels and savings
  • Vet and onboard carriers for authority, insurance and FMCSA/safety compliance

We're looking for 5+ years of freight brokerage experience, with flatbed strongly preferred. You should know how to source capacity, negotiate rates, build carrier relationships and manage a brokerage book against margin and profitability targets.

This could be a great move for someone who has learned what good looks like inside an established brokerage and now wants the opportunity to own and build—with existing freight volume, direct access to leadership and real runway to grow the operation.
