Job description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The prep cook prepares and cooks all “broil”, “fry”, and “grill” items while maintaining a clean, safe, and well stocked line in accordance with local Public Health guidelines and Outback’s procedures and instructions.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1.    Sets up the fry, assembly, broil, grill, and steam line stations.
2.    Assembles plates according to the menu matrix.
3.    Cooks fried foods to order, ensuring proper temperature and color.
4.    Filters oil according to standards.
5.    Selects, seasons and broils items to order using proper procedures.
6.    Coordinates activity on the line.
7.    Checks out with a manager at the end of their shift.
8.    Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is in a kitchen setting with exposure to extreme temperatures (above 140 degrees / below 40 degrees) and loud environment. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, understand, and respond to colleague’s requests in a loud environment in a quick manner.
Employee must be able to move and lift items up to 35 lbs for distance up to 25 feet. Employee must be able to stand and be active for prolonged periods of time. 
Employee will be regularly to tolerate exposure to and/or contact with seafood without an allergic reaction or sensitivity. Must be able to wear vinyl or latex gloves.
 Employee must have skill and coordination at using hands to perform kitchen duties.
