Location: Mount Pleasant campus

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/weekly

This position reports to: Pastor of Seacoast Small Groups

The mission: This team targets our mission by celebrating, encouraging, mentoring, and counseling our congregation through major life changing experiences and spiritual growth opportunities. The Leader/Pastor of Care Ministry has a calling to help people grow spiritually and connect relationally. The role focuses on developing a clear pathway that enables individuals and couples to find God, grow their faith, discover their purpose and make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Development and Pastoral Leadership of Mount Pleasant Care Ministry

  • Oversee MTP Care Ministry and Care Groups with strategic pastoral leadership, organizational management of the ministry, and development of the teams
  • Responsible for creating effective processes to recruit leaders and create engaging small group environments within Care Groups (current offerings 2026: Growth Track: Freedom, Rooted, Financial Group; Support Groups: Divorce Care, Grief Share, Cancer Care, Peaceful Caregiver, Thrive Family Support, Celebrate Recovery, etc.) – these ministries/groups may be replaced or removed based on collaboration and support with supervisor: Pastor of Small Groups
  • Team-Lead for Freedom Retreat Leadership Team which includes campus staff assigned to Freedom at their campus: small group pastor or assistant campus pastor: ie: West Ashley, North Charleston, Summerville

Retreat Team-Lead maintains clear vision, communication, and timeline for the Freedom Retreat
planning and execution of the Freedom Retreat with the support of the MTP Care Coordinator and Freedom Retreat Team
Hold/run Retreat Team planning meetings to clarify roles/positions for Retreat
Work effectively across departments to ensure clarity of needs, expectations and responsibilities for the Retreat: ie: Worship/Production

  • Provide Oversight and Development for Care Groups, Leaders, and Coaches
  • Craft and execute clear and compelling vision for the Care Ministry and staff
  • Create strategic, detailed plans for ministry objectives
  • Build systems and processes to ensure the spiritual growth and numeric growth of leaders and groups
  • Provide leadership of Care Ministry Staff
  • Lead regular Care Ministry Team meetings to communicate objectives, collaborate on projects, provide relational support, and spiritual development
  • Maintain awareness of current topics/curriculum available
  • Anticipate needs of ministry and ministry leaders to decide directional changes to ensure alignment with ministry vision and goals
  • Build rapport across departments to collaborate and accomplish goals
  • Engage strategically with Next Steps and other opportunities to build on-ramps for Growth Track (Rooted & Freedom) as well as other Care Groups
  • Implement creative initiatives to increase awareness and continually develop Care Ministry 
  • Develop an effective communication strategy to promote Care ministry programs and events
  • Create and implement connection/onboarding strategies that integrates with campus-specific and campus-wide initiatives (ie: Connect Weekends, Alignment Series, etc.)
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement by seeking feedback from Seacoast Leadership, small group coaches and leaders, and small group participants
  • Maintain accurate metrics on Care Ministry to determine progress within small group ministry
  • Analyze participation trends within Care ministry and events to optimize current strategies that increase quantity and quality of participation.
  • Analyze budget and expenses for Care Ministry

Leads the Mount Pleasant Campus Prayer Team and Encouragers Ministry (if Encouragers is applicable)

  • Develop and oversee volunteer prayer team for Mount Pleasant Campus Weekend Experience, First Wednesday, holiday services and other special events
  • Establish clear lines of communication with volunteer team
  • Sets vision and direction of campus Prayer Team
  • Provide training and development opportunities for campus prayer team
  • Maintain awareness of current topics/curriculum available for Prayer Ministry and Encourager Ministry
  • Assist and provide support for other campuses with building a prayer team/encourager ministry: collaborate, provide resources, etc. to help them build the ministry at their campus
  • Responsible to collect cross prayers and refresh supplies and boxes during events (with assistance of Pastoral Care Coordinator)

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain department budget and expenses
  • Actively engage during all weekly staff meetings, 1:1s with leader and monthly All-Staff , and other campus meetings or all calls

Weekend Duties:

  • Oversee MTP Prayer Team and Team Leads
  • Connect with attendees in the Connect Center and fill other spots as needed

Pastoral Duties: (if licensed or ordained):

  • Officiate weddings, funerals, and baptisms. Assist in hospital visits and baby dedications, etc.
  • Pastoral counseling, primarily for congregants, but occasionally for staff (licensure/ordination may not be required depending on academic qualifications)
  • Work Pastor-On-Call rotation


Job Essentials:

Required Experience: 3 to 5 years
• Christ Follower (Seacoast Church makes hiring decisions aligned to our religious faith and beliefs)
• Minimum 5 years experience developing and leading teams, counseling experience or training preferred
• Effective ability to recruit leaders and build teams to empower and partner with the Care Ministries/Groups
• A calling to pastor peoples personal and spiritual growth along with a passion for meeting people where they are and counseling and encouraging them through this particular season of life
• Uncanny ability to identify leadership potential with proven ability in recruiting and building teams
• Ability to confidentially and sensitively counsel with zero exception
• Exceptional people/relationship skills
• A deep belief in the power of prayer
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to teach Scripture in practical ways
