PositionSummary
The Dental Hygienist is a valued memberof the Health Care Partners of South Carolina dental team, providing preventiveand therapeutic oral healthcare services to patients of all ages. Workingcollaboratively with dentists, dental assistants, medical providers, and othermembers of the care team, this position promotes oral health through patienteducation, disease prevention, clinical treatment, and early intervention. Aspart of a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Dental Hygienist iscommitted to delivering compassionate, culturally competent, andpatient-centered care to underserved and medically vulnerable populations.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities
โ€ข Perform comprehensive dental hygieneassessments, prophylaxis, periodontal therapy, fluoride treatments, sealants,and other preventive services within the scope of practice.
โ€ข Obtain, process, and evaluate dental radiographsin accordance with state regulations and provider orders.
โ€ข Assess patients for signs of oral disease andcommunicate findings to the supervising dentist.
โ€ข Educate patients on proper oral hygienetechniques, nutrition, tobacco cessation, and disease prevention to promotelifelong oral health.
โ€ข Assist in the development and implementation ofindividualized preventive care plans.
โ€ข Collaborate with dentists, dental assistants,and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
โ€ข Maintain accurate and timely documentation inthe Electronic Health Record (EHR).
โ€ข Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and infection preventionprotocols while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
โ€ข Monitor and maintain dental instruments,equipment, and supplies, ensuring proper sterilization and functionality.
โ€ข Participate in community outreach activities,school-based programs, oral health education, and other initiatives thatsupport the HCPSC mission.
โ€ข Maintain patient confidentiality and protecthealth information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
โ€ข Participate in required trainings, staffmeetings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
Education& Experience
โ€ข Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene programrequired.
โ€ข Current South Carolina Dental Hygienist licensein good standing required.
โ€ข Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationrequired.
โ€ข Minimum of one (1) year of clinical dentalhygiene experience preferred.
โ€ข Experience working in a Federally QualifiedHealth Center (FQHC), community health center, or public health settingpreferred.
โ€ข Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR)and dental practice management systems preferred.
โ€ข Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferredbut not required.
