About This Role
The Marketing & Communications team at Geronimo Power is seeking a Public Relations Manager to lead the company’s media relations strategy and strengthen its visibility with key external audiences. This role will develop and execute proactive communications plans that elevate Geronimo Power’s brand, support business objectives, and reinforce the company’s reputation as a farmer-founded, community-focused energy developer. The Public Relations Manager will manage media relationships, shape external messaging, prepare leaders and subject-matter experts for public-facing opportunities, and help anticipate and respond to reputational issues. The ideal candidate is a strategic, creative, and highly organized communicator with strong writing skills, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and continually refine a comprehensive public relations and media relations strategy that advances company priorities, supports project and business development milestones, and strengthens Geronimo Power’s reputation with key audiences.
- Identify, pitch, and secure proactive earned and paid media opportunities across national, trade, regional, and local outlets, ensuring stories are timely, strategically positioned, and aligned with company messaging.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with reporters, editors, industry publications, and other media stakeholders to support accurate coverage and position Geronimo Power as a credible resource on energy, infrastructure, and rural economic development topics.
- Draft, edit, and manage high-quality press materials, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, FAQs, backgrounders, statements, and briefing documents for internal and external use.
- Serve as a key communications partner on sensitive or high-visibility issues, including community opposition, regulatory matters, project siting concerns, and infrastructure-related scrutiny, helping develop clear, accurate, and responsive messaging.
- Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and communications impact; provide regular reporting, insights, and recommendations that help internal teams understand coverage trends, emerging issues, and opportunities for proactive engagement.
- Prepare executives and subject-matter experts for interviews, panels, conferences, community engagements, and other public-facing opportunities through briefing materials, message development, and media coaching.
- Support executive thought leadership by developing op-eds, bylined articles, conference submissions, speaking abstracts, and visibility opportunities that reinforce Geronimo Power’s expertise and leadership in the energy industry.
- Ensure executive and external messaging remains consistent with corporate positioning, brand voice, business priorities, policy developments, market trends, and stakeholder expectations.
- Establish and maintain communications best practices, processes, and standards that support consistent messaging, efficient workflows, and stronger alignment across internal teams and external-facing communications.
- Oversee media monitoring, social listening, and public sentiment analysis efforts to identify emerging issues, inform messaging strategies, and support proactive stakeholder engagement.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to communications and advertising agencies, consultants, and vendors to ensure external partners deliver work that advances company objectives, strengthens messaging, and meets timeline and budget expectations.
- Lead the strategy and coordination of national and project-level advertising efforts across print, digital, radio, social media, and sponsored content, ensuring campaigns support project milestones, community engagement goals, and broader public relations and communications priorities.
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance for internal communications efforts, collaborating with teams across the organization to ensure clear, timely, and effective communication of company initiatives, programs, and operational changes.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and strategic guidance for the Communications Associate, supporting prioritization, professional development, and execution of internal and external communications initiatives.
NOTE: Communications Associate will report into this role.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of multi channel public relations experience
- Proven ability to organize and manage several projects at various stages simultaneously
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in using programs such as Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. At times with little to no notice.

Pay Range for the posted level: $100,000 - $140,000 plus target annual bonus opportunity of 25%. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and demonstrated market-relevant expertise
