Overview
Dispatcher-Shift will work in conjunction with System Operators and appropriate supervisors in contacting, directing, and dispatching personnel to response to service problems and emergencies. This is NOT A REMOTE POSITION. Successful candidates must report to PPL's Command Center located in Allentown, PA for every shift. The schedule for this position is a rotating shift and the successful candidates must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays. There is a 30 mile residency requirement for this role (address to be provided if selected for consideration). This is a union position and successful candidates will be members of IBEW Local 1600.
Responsibilities
  1. Direct and dispatch work crews to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
  2. Coordinates activities with Distribution and Transmission system operators to ensure the safe and effective use of resources.
  3. Informs Distribution and Transmission system operators of critical information to ensure the most effective and safe response to customers.
  4. Interact with PPL and contractor crews performing work and restoration on the PPL system in a professional manner.
  5. Interact with the 911 centers in a professional manner and ensure all required information is transmitted between the parties to allow PPL and emergency personnel to respond to emergencies in the most efficient and safest way possible.
  6. Receives and handles calls during emergency conditions and service interruptions.
  7. Performs in a courteous and professional manner while satisfying customer inquiries and complaints, both verbal and written.
  8. Promotes high standards of customer and public relations.
  9. Calls out, directs and dispatches personnel, secures assistance or requests help from other departments as necessary.
  10. Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization in order to ensure the most effective use of resources.
  11. Perform administrative functions.
  12. Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
  13. Responds to call-outs as required by company policies and procedures

Qualifications
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Basic understanding of electrical distribution system.
  2. Ability to obtain NERC/CIP PSP clearance..
  3. Successful completion of CRITICALL test

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience in dispatching work via electronic systems.
