Team Overview

Our Product team leads the direction, coordination, output, quality, and enhancements to PowerSchool's product portfolio. This dynamic, multi-functional team ensures the effective rollout of new products across the platform, packages and positions products to appeal to consumers, and helps set the future direction and pace of innovation in our organization.

ResponsibilitiesDescription

VP Product Platform Transformation is a strategic, operational, and cross-functional executive responsible for driving a critical high visibility Platform build and product transformation initiative at PowerSchool. This role, reporting to the CEO, is expected to lead PowerSchool's platform acceleration effort working across a variety of internal and external/BoD stakeholders. This leader will partner with the CPO, R&D, Finance, Cloud Operations, and GTM teams to ensure the company delivers high-quality, high-impact products with operational excellence, customer-centricity, and financial discipline.

As the company refines its future platform strategy and works with external partners on customer-centered design, product strategy, architecture, and rapid build execution, this leader will serve as the interim Platform Lead / business owner for the initiative.

In this capacity, the role will help translate CEO and investor ambition into a practical roadmap, coordinate cross-functional decision-making, ensure internal teams and external partners are operating against a shared set of priorities. This role is therefore both a durable functional leader and a high-impact transformation operator.

Your day-to-day job will consist of:

  • Product Strategy Leadership
    • Partner with executive leadership to define and operationalize the roadmap for a future-state platform strategy spanning multiple products, workflows, and user personas.
    • Help create the governance, planning mechanisms, and KPI structure needed to manage both existing product commitments and platform innovation efforts in parallel.
    • Partner with Product, Finance, Engineering, Support, Services, and Cloud Ops to optimize product investments, COGS, and contribution margins, balancing customer experience with operational efficiency.
  • Platform Transformation Leadership
    • Lead the day-to-day orchestration of PowerSchool's platform acceleration initiative, serving as the connective tissue across executive sponsors, internal functional leaders, and external partners.
    • artner closely with the CEO and executive sponsors to define scope, sequencing, success metrics, and stage-gate decisions for the platform program.
    • Ensure the platform effort does not operate in a vacuum by mobilizing the right subject matter experts, customer references, internal artifacts, and technical inputs at the right moments.
    • Serve as a primary operating lead for the platform program's governance model, including steering committee preparation, decision framing, issue escalation, and follow-through.
    • Partner closely with Product, Finance, and GTM leadership to evaluate, refine, and execute pricing & packaging strategies for new platform.
    • Define and track platform-transformation KPIs, including strategic milestone delivery, customer validation progress, prototype adoption signals, cross-functional dependency health, and readiness for scale.
    • Build dashboards, analytics infrastructure, and review cadences to surface risks early, drive continuous improvement, and ensure accountability across Product and R&D.
    • Consolidate customer, usage, and operational insights to inform prioritization and strategic direction.
  • Cross-Functional Execution & Release Leadership
    • Ensure major platform releases are supported by the right internal readiness across implementation, services, support, customer success, and field teams.
    • Lead cross-functional coordination for major releases involving Product, R&D, Cloud Operations, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, and GTM teams.
    • Ensure alignment of priorities, cross-team dependencies, delivery timelines, quality commitments, and customer-facing readiness.
  • AI-Driven Operational Efficiency & Automation
    • Partner with Engineering, IT, and Product to select and deploy AI solutions that enhance decision-making, eliminate manual work, and improve team throughput.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years in B2B SaaS / Cloud product operations, product strategy, or product management, including senior leadership responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale cross-functional transformation programs that cut across Product, Engineering, GTM, Finance, and Operations.
  • Experience helping define or operationalize platform strategies across multi-product software portfolios, including roadmap sequencing, dependency management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Experience operating within a $500M-$1B+ ARR, multi-product SaaS or Cloud Platform environment.
  • Demonstrated track record improving product performance and customer satisfaction at scale.
  • Deep familiarity with modern product & engineering tools (roadmapping, backlog, analytics, voice of customer, monitoring).
  • Experience partnering closely with Customer Success, Support, Sales, and GTM teams serving enterprise or institutional customers
Key Competencies
  • Enterprise Platform Experience: Connects customer workflows, product strategy, technical architecture, operating model, and economics into a coherent transformation path.
  • Strategic Systems Thinker: Capable of designing operating models, not just individual processes.
  • Highly Data Fluent: Adept at defining, instrumenting, interpreting, and operationalizing product and customer metrics.
  • Program & Portfolio Management Excellence: Drives structured execution and ensures cross-functional follow-through.
  • Stakeholder Leadership: Skilled at aligning CEO, Product, R&D, CS, Support, and GTM around shared priorities.
