In this position, you will work with teams developing innovative products used by millions of people. Your role on the team involves implementing the advanced DC-DC power designs for Apple’s next generation Mac platforms covering portable, desktop and server systems, and other future Mac products.
Description
As a DC-DC power system designer, you will be driving innovative power circuit designs and system level partitioning from initial concept investigations, to design execution, and through successful product manufacturing.","responsibilities":"Work with system and power architects on computer and server power architecture investigations using single-phase and multi-phase dc-dc voltage regulators.
Apply technical expertise to analyze design tradeoffs including system performance, power consumption & efficiency, physical size, cost, carbon footprint and scalability.
Own the power circuit schematic and BOM. Work with the PCB layout team to implement the design.
Define complex PMU settings - Including power sequence, GPIOs and voltage regulator configurations.
Validate the performance of power circuits through comprehensive lab testing.
Perform system level testing with computational workloads.
Provide technical support to debug production issues by determining root cause and resolutions.
Perform comparative benchmarking to drive innovation and best solutions.
Engage vendors to develop next generation integrated circuits, FETs, and passives.
Collaborate with engineers from other areas of expertise, e.g. system design & architecture, digital & analog IC design, thermal design, reliability, and mechanical engineering.
Present results of your work to peers, managers and cross-functional leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly motivated, self-starter, able to work well with multi-functional teams in dynamic work environment.
Code development skills, e.g. Python, Matlab, Math Cad.
Experience with multi-channel power management integrated circuits.
Experience with high-current data-center rack power distribution
Background in analog, digital or power integrated circuit design.
Experience with digital hardware design such as microcontrollers and digital interfaces (such as I2C, SPI, SPMI, etc)
Minimum Qualifications
Electrical / Computer engineering degree with >5 years of relevant work experience, e.g. in consumer and server electronics or semiconductor companies.
Understanding single- and multi- phase DC-DC regulators, control loops, passive components, operating modes, thermals, efficiency and fault protection functions.
Experienced in power circuit design, simulations, functionality and performance validation, test automation, issue debug, PCB schematic and layout.
Occasional travel in the US and overseas to provide factory or vendor support.
