Job Title: Lead Software Engineer - Power BI
Location: New York, NY (Onsite/Hybrid as applicable)

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer - Power BI to lead end-to-end business intelligence solutions, including dashboard development, data modeling, and analytics delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong Power BI expertise, deep SQL skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performing analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.
  • Design, develop, and optimize complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and Power Query transformations.
  • Architect and maintain scalable, high-performance data models aligned with business needs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable analytics solutions.
  • Develop, tune, and optimize SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
  • Ensure data accuracy, performance, and security, including Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace management, and deployment pipelines.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data visualization, governance, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimize dataset refreshes and query execution.
  • Mentor junior BI developers and contribute to BI standards, frameworks, and reusable assets.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Analysis / BI Development.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including:
    • DAX
    • Power Query
    • Data Modeling
    • Power BI Service Administration
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets and performance tuning techniques.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Experience with ETL pipelines and data integration workflows.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights to business and executive stakeholders.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with the Azure BI stack, including:
    • Azure SQL
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Synapse Analytics
    • Databricks
  • Exposure to Python for data analysis or automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD for Power BI, including deployment pipelines and Git integration.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance practices.
  • Industry experience in Finance, Healthcare, Retail, Supply Chain, or similar domains.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
