Job description

We are seeking a knowledgeable Powder Coat Painter to join our team at Minnesota Industrial Coatings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrostatic powder coating of products in a spray booth or batch booth according to specification
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using quality tools
  • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance
  • Perform color changes, and properly maintain powder delivery system
  • Identify and consistently maintain required paint thickness
  • Cleaning of Powder Coating booth and powder guns at the end of shift or during paint changes.
  • Inspect material from fabrication shop for successful application
  • Coat manufactured parts consistent to customer and internal quality needs
  • Operate automated spray booth and manual spray guns
  • Utilize the paint line as efficiently as possible with minimal stoppages and gaps
  • Operate all coating equipment including the guns, hoppers, and booth collection system
  • Comfortability in coating on a perpetual line as well as in batch powder setting
  • Paint parts consistently per instructions and quality specs
  • Manage inventory levels of paint gun parts to ensure adequate supply for production needs and timely replenishment
  • Accurately document paint usage to ensure compliance with quality standards and inventory management
  • Perform daily and weekly PMs on powder coating equipmentย 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist/support the Production Team Leader with tasks as necessary

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • 3-5 yearsโ€™ experience in Powder Coating

Skills and Competencies

  • Comfortability in working in non-temperature-controlled work environment
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. on a consistent basisย 
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hoursย 
  • Excellent hand/eye coordinationย 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use power toolsย 
  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and staminaย ย
