Virginia MetalFab is looking for motivated and energetic individuals to fill the role of Powder Coater.


WHO YOU ARE IN THIS ROLE

As a Powder Coater, you will be a part of an AWESOME shop team and will be responsible for performing various tasks involved in the powder coating process from prepping and spraying to quality assurance. In addition, you will be responsible for routine and preventative maintenance painting duties within the shop. Other responsibilities include painting large materials, performing inspections, operating various tools and equipment, cleaning up the work area, and storing and disposing of paint products.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Prepare and powder paint a variety of surfaces including all types of metal.
  • Apply protective powder coatings to items such as equipment or metalwork.
  • Work in a fast paced environment.
  • Perform and record thickness tests.
  • Load the cart system while maximizing available square footage.
  • Unload and correctly tag product after coating.
  • Knowledge of coating applications (painting, powder coating, gel coating, etc.)
  • Set controls on power application equipment according to set procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains the powder coating booth and other workspace to avoid powder contamination.
  • Ensures that safety equipment is working and adjustments are made as required.

 1st shift:

1st shift: Monday- Friday  / 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.





Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of powder coating experience required.
  • Must be proficient in math and skilled with multiple types of measuring devices.
  • Ability to wear various forms of PPE.
  • Ability to wear respirator.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to and including 51-100 lb.
  • Ability to push/pull up to and including 41-100 lb.
  • Certifications and Licenses - Forklift.
  • Computer skills - MS Suite, basic skills.
  • Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Research Skills - Ability to design and conduct a systematic, objective, and critical investigation.
