Job description

MK Magnetics (www.mkmagnetics.com) specializes in the production of custom and standard tape wound soft magnetic cores for transformers and inductors. All the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, California, in a modern 75,000 sq. ft. facility specifically designed and built for manufacturing tape wound magnetic cores.

Working in accordance with the established policies and procedures, the Coater is responsible for learning and applying the techniques involved in the operation of the coating machine to coat raw material to specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts set-up of coater machine.
  • Transfers chemicals to chemical containers, adding to coating tanks when levels are low, need replacing or adjustment to ratio of mixture.
  • Checks buffer wheel for roughness; replaces if needed.
  • Loads coils on pay-off wheels; spot welds material to guide strips, removing guides when material runs through cooker; attaches material to re-coiler, placing spacers between strips.
  • Sets speed for buffer, rollers and re-coilers depending on material being ran through coater.
  • Inspects material for conformance to specifications (e.g., color and even coating) and adjusts equipment or chemicals to meet standards.
  • Physically removes material from re-coiler.
  • Identifies coated material by filling out tags and placing with coils (giving one copy to Production Control).
  • Cleans chemical tanks.
  • Labels secondary containers, per Hazardous Communication Plan.
  • Disposes of hazardous waste into proper containers with labels affixed for type of material and hazard.
  • Actively increases knowledge of Coating Department including those skills required to advance to Coating Machine Operator II status.
  • Work hours 2nd shift 3pm-1130pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to use Hand and power tools used in manufacturing work; especially tools used for measurements, preferred.
