Job Title: Paint Line Operator

Job Description

This role operates and maintains a paint line with a focus on powder coating processes, ensuring high-quality finishes on workpieces while following strict safety, production, and quality standards. The Paint Line Operator prepares surfaces, applies powder coatings, monitors equipment performance, and maintains accurate production records in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work duties in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment, safe work habits, and adherence to housekeeping standards.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces of workpieces prior to coating to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
  • Apply powder coatings using powder coat applicator guns and related paint line equipment.
  • Match and detect differences between colors, including subtle shades and brightness variations, to meet job specifications.
  • Set up, clean, maintain, and adjust powder coating and paint line equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems with powder equipment in batch operations or at the paint line to minimize downtime and defects.
  • Maintain production rates and quality standards by working efficiently and monitoring output.
  • Confirm job orders and material selections before starting work to ensure correct coatings, colors, and processes are used.
  • Maintain accurate part counts and record information on routers and/or in the production control system.
  • Inspect and identify worn parts on spray guns and related equipment to ensure consistent coating quality.
  • Place coated workpieces in ovens for specified times to properly cure and dry finishes according to process requirements.
  • Examine finished surfaces to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards, and take corrective action when needed.
  • Report all scrap and nonconforming product to the department lead or designated contact.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining the spray booth, paint line, and preparation areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and departmental goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing environments, with familiarity working on production lines.
  • Hands-on experience with paint lines and/or paint line operation, particularly in industrial or powder coat applications.
  • Practical knowledge of powder coating processes, including use of powder coat applicator guns and paint sprayers.
  • Ability to set up, operate, clean, maintain, and adjust powder coating and paint line equipment.
  • Capability to identify and troubleshoot issues with powder coating equipment in both batch and continuous paint line operations.
  • Strong color perception skills to match and distinguish differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Basic computer skills to enter and review data in production control or related systems.
  • Effective communication skills to discuss and understand work procedures, training instructions, and general direction with coworkers and leadership.
  • Ability to maintain an excellent attendance record and demonstrate reliability.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and support shared production goals.
  • Physical ability to work safely and effectively in a high heat, manufacturing setting and perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Pay and Benefits
