Job description

Our Opportunity

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents (and partners), everywhere! On the Product Design and Research team, we embrace this vision—and our pets. We create experiences that delight customers, empower team members, and support the businesses and veterinary professionals who help keep pets happy and healthy.

As a collaborative, curious, and customer-obsessed team of designers, researchers, and builders, we're looking for talented product designers who are passionate about solving meaningful problems through thoughtful, human-centered design.

As a Senior Product Designer, you'll play a key role in shaping digital experiences across Chewy's ecosystem. You'll partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, and fellow designers to transform complex customer and business challenges into intuitive, elegant, and impactful product experiences. You'll own design work from early discovery through launch, helping define the future of products used by millions of pet parents and thousands of internal users and partners.

What You'll Do

Design Meaningful Experiences

  • Transform customer insights, business goals, and technical requirements into intuitive, user-centered product experiences.

  • Design elegant solutions that balance usability, scalability, and business impact.

  • Create thoughtful interactions that simplify complex workflows and delight users.

Own the End-to-End Design Process

  • Lead projects through the full product design lifecycle—from discovery and research through wireframes, prototypes, visual design, testing, and implementation.

  • Iterate designs based on user feedback, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Advocate for customer needs while balancing business objectives and technical constraints.

Collaborate Across Disciplines

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Content Design, and other cross-functional partners to define product strategy and deliver exceptional experiences.

  • Facilitate design discussions and communicate decisions effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Build alignment across teams through clear storytelling and thoughtful design rationale.

Drive Design Quality

  • Champion high-quality craft, interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and usability.

  • Contribute to and evolve design systems, patterns, and best practices.

  • Help foster a collaborative design culture by sharing knowledge, providing feedback, and continuously improving how we work.

Think Strategically

  • Solve problems with a systems-thinking mindset, considering the broader customer journey across products and touchpoints.

  • Identify opportunities to improve experiences beyond immediate project scope.

  • Balance long-term vision with iterative delivery.

What You'll Need

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, or a related discipline.

  • Experience leading complex product design initiatives from concept through implementation.

  • Proven success designing digital products across web and/or mobile platforms.

Design Excellence

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design thinking, customer-centered problem solving, and measurable business impact.

  • Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and visual communication.

  • Experience using design systems and contributing to scalable design patterns.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and facilitating collaborative decision-making.

  • Strong storytelling skills that clearly communicate design rationale and customer insights.

Customer Mindset

  • Passion for deeply understanding users through research, data, and continuous learning.

  • Ability to simplify complex problems into intuitive, accessible experiences.

  • Experience balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Design products that improve the lives of millions of pet parents.

  • Collaborate with talented designers, researchers, engineers, and product leaders.

  • Influence product strategy from discovery through delivery.

  • Work in an environment that values curiosity, experimentation, customer obsession, and continuous learning.

  • Help shape the future of digital experiences across one of the fastest-growing e-commerce and healthcare ecosystems.

The base salary range for this role is $149,000 - $225,000.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.
