Job Title: HR Specialist

Assignment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Pay: $35 – $40 / hour | $80,000 salary upon conversion

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST

About The Company:

Our client is a growing IT and cybersecurity services organization providing technology solutions to businesses in highly regulated industries.

This is a fully remote position; however, employees will be expected to travel to the once per quarter for team gatherings.

 

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an HR Specialist to join their growing team in a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on payroll administration and compliance. This individual will manage bi-weekly payroll activities through ADP Workforce Now while also supporting payroll taxes, unemployment administration, benefits, leaves of absence, onboarding, and other general HR functions.

The ideal candidate has 2 – 3 years of HR or payroll experience, is highly detail-oriented, and is comfortable taking ownership of payroll-related processes in a fast-moving environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing through ADP Workforce Now, ensuring employee pay is processed accurately and on schedule.
  • Review payroll information, deductions, compensation changes, and other data prior to processing.
  • Reconcile payroll records and research discrepancies or errors as they arise.
  • Respond to employee questions related to payroll, deductions, and compensation.
  • Maintain organized payroll documentation and records to support internal reviews and audits.
  • Partner with accounting and finance teams on payroll reconciliation and related reporting.
  • Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements and ensure appropriate withholdings are maintained.
  • Review unemployment claims, unemployment insurance rates, and related filings throughout the year.
  • Track payroll tax deposits, returns, filing deadlines, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable wage and hour laws and payroll regulations.
  • Prepare documentation and provide support in connection with payroll or regulatory audits.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, plan changes, and general benefits questions.
  • Provide administrative support during annual benefits open enrollment.
  • Coordinate and track employee leaves, including FMLA, parental, and medical leave.
  • Maintain accurate employee information within HR systems and personnel records.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Assist with HR policies, documentation, compliance initiatives, and additional HR projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 2 – 3 years of experience within human resources, payroll administration, or a related function.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now is required.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and employment regulations.
  • Familiarity with payroll tax compliance and unemployment insurance administration.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to reconcile data and identify discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential employee and payroll information.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions is a plus.
  • SHRM certification is not required.
