Suncoast has been in business for over 30 years, and we are dedicated to providing the construction industry with engineering expertise, responsive service and manufacturing excellence to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective installations, restorations and repairs. The Forklift Loader is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a sit-down forklift to move, stage, and load post-tensioning materials and rebar onto flatbed trucks. This is a physically demanding role that requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, a strong focus on load accuracy, and strict adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities Forklift Operation: Safely operate a heavy-duty sit-down forklift to transport rebar, post-tensioning coils, and related construction materials across the yard Flatbed Loading: Properly sequence, balance, and secure heavy, irregular loads onto flatbed trailers for safe transit Inventory & Staging: Locate, pull, and stage materials according to shipping manifests and loading orders Quality & Detail Control: Verify item counts, bundle tags, and product descriptions against paperwork to ensure 100% order accuracy before shipment Documentation: Read, interpret, and fill out shipping documents, pick lists, and safety logs in English Safety & Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-shift forklift inspections. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free yard environment Qualifications Experience: Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in an industrial, manufacturing, or lumberyard environment Direct experience with flatbed truck loading (understanding weight distribution and load stability) Prior experience handling rebar or post-tensioning materials is highly preferred Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to accurately process shipping paperwork and communicate with drivers and supervisors. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when checking part numbers, counts, and loading configurations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds regularly, and greater weights with assistance Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery safely and effectively for extended durations, including repetitive hand and foot movements, and in both hot and cold weather environments Ability to climb on and off equipment, ladders, and elevated platforms, and work at heights when required Ability to use hands and tools to perform physical tasks, including rigging, securing loads, and equipment adjustments Ability to maintain situational awareness and react quickly to changing job site conditions to ensure safety Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety signals, including working in environments with high noise levels (hearing protection may be required) Ability to see and distinguish colors, depths, and distances to safely operate equipment and perform tasks Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and travel as required by project needs Ability to perform physically demanding work requiring stamina, endurance, and strength in a fast-paced, high-risk environment Additional Information Salary Range: $20.00 / hr+ Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including relevant internal and external experience, knowledge, skills, scope of job, geographical location or other factors permitted by law Benefits 401(k) + matching Health, Dental, Vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off (PTO) Holiday Pay Suncoast is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
