Job description

Title: Engineering Manager - Precast / Prestressed Concrete
Location: Westmont, IL
Position Type: Full-Time Direct Hire
Salary: $135,000 - $160,000 per year

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer and engineering leader to take ownership of a technical team while remaining closely involved in interesting structural design and project work.  You’ll have the opportunity to lead engineers, influence major projects, work directly with Sales and Project Management, solve complex engineering problems, and shape engineering processes and best practices. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering calculation group, including workload planning, project assignments, resource allocation, and team performance.
  • Plan and organize departmental resources to meet project schedules, deadlines, and business priorities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote effective collaboration across project teams.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and communicate timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitor individual project budgets as well as the overall engineering department budget.
  • Review and approve engineering and design documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Conduct technical studies including stress analysis, process flow simulations, and engineering evaluations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and develop action plans to resolve engineering and design challenges.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve design risks, technical issues, and project challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Design, Customers, Pre-Construction, Estimating, Project Management, Production, and Erection teams.
  • Work with production and erection teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Provide technical design support to Sales and assist with estimating drafting and design costs for upcoming projects.
Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must be a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in Illinois, Wisconsin, or Indiana, or have the ability to quickly obtain licensure.
  • Must have at least 8+ years of precast/prestressed concrete design experience.
  • Must have at least 3+ years of management experience within the prestressed/precast concrete industry.
  • Strong understanding of applicable building codes and engineering standards.
