Business Analytics
Data Science
Engineering Management
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and excellence in instruction that supports the department's academic programs. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to cultivate an active research program through extramural funding, publication in leading peer-reviewed journals within their discipline, and mentorship of both undergraduate and graduate students. A willingness to contribute to the department's broader educational mission is also essential. These positions will begin in August 2026.JOB DESCRIPTION

Minimum Qualifications

Earned graduate degree in appropriate field:

  • For Business Analytics or Engineering Management, the degree should be in Business Analytics, Economics, Engineering Management, Operations Management, Marketing, or a closely related field. Business degrees must be earned from an AACSB-accredited institution.

  • For Data Science, the degree should be in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a closely related field.

Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of:

  • Teaching effectiveness

  • Ability to conduct independent research

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a broad campus community.

Preference, especially for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, will be given to candidates with experience in several of the following areas:

  • Curriculum development.

  • Student academic advising and mentoring.

  • Applied or interdisciplinary research in areas consistent with Florida Polytechnic University's mission and a corresponding record of publications in reputable peer reviewed journals.

  • Successful completion of funded research projects.

  • Contributing or sole author on proposals for grants or other funded research opportunities.

  • Relevant technical work in industry or consulting.

  • Evidence of effective teaching.

  • Relevant research or industry experience.

  • Experience in curriculum delivery and development.

  • Experience with students' academic advising and mentoring.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent applied research.

  • Experience as contributing author or sole author on research proposals.

  • Professional activities and organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a broad campus community.

Academic Rank Qualifications

Instructor

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline

Assistant Professor

  • Doctorate in the relevant discipline (see above)

Associate Professor

  • Doctorate in the relevant discipline (see above)
  • Must currently hold rank of Associate Professor or be eligible to apply for this rank at current institution

Full Professor

  • Doctorate in the relevant discipline (see above)
  • Must currently hold rank of Professor or 6+ years at the rank of Associate Professor

TENURE-EQUIVALENT SYSTEM

Faculty at Florida Poly are employed via renewable, multi-year appointments codified in a collective bargaining agreement. This tenure-equivalent system substantially mirrors tenure systems at other schools, with reappointment and progression in rank based on a comprehensive review of accomplishments. Initial contract durations are as follows:

Assistant Professor: 3 years

Associate Professor: 3-5 years

Professor: 6 years

Applicants with post-PhD experience may be offered an accelerated timeline to apply for promotion to the next academic rank. Under this tenure-equivalent system, faculty are eligible to compete for NSF and NIH grants, including career grants.

This position requires a background check, which may include level II screening as required by the Florida Statute435.04.
