Job description

Poly Prep's mission is to prepare and inspire the next diverse generation of leaders and global citizens to act with intelligence, imagination, and--above all--character.

Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of MS/US Librarian (Leave Replacement) for August 16, 2026 to January 30, 2027 to develop and sustain Upper and Middle School library programs and facilities; ensure that the services advance the Upper and Middle School academic programs; promote information literacy; and provide instruction for Upper and Middle School students in library services consistent with the school's efforts to instill a love of reading and research.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage, organize, and maintain library services, physical facilities, collections, budgets, and the professional development and evaluation of the Library Department
  • Assess and respond to the changing academic, instructional, technological, and information needs of the Poly community
  • Uphold the Library's core mission and collaboratively guide its vision
  • Maintain an up-to-date, well-stocked, and diverse library collection conducive to reading and research
  • Select and make readily available a variety of resources, including print, digital, and multimedia
  • Administer student-facing Library accounts, subscriptions, and external platforms
  • Collaborate with academic departments to support Upper and Middle School curricula through information literacy instruction
  • Assist students and other library users on an individual basis and ensure their equitable access to information and technology
  • Promote literacy and the ethical and responsible use of information
  • Encourage engagement with the Library through the development and support of library events (including but not limited to author and speaker visits)
  • Maintain active memberships in professional associations and develop positive relationships with local libraries and library stakeholders 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend community events throughout the school year
  • Engage in meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to department, committee, and divisional meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related disciplines required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in library sciences, library/literacy education, or a related field.

Salary: $75,821 - $94,483 (All levels of experience are welcome to apply. Salary is based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise.)
