Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret blue prints or brown lines, verifying product compliance by utilizing various measurement tools.
• Ability to problem solve and resolve issues. Proper judgment in communication with Customers when required. Facilitate Root Cause Analysis with working team to ensure timely response to the customer with effective countermeasures properly validated.
• Has the authority to stop the production process if a quality or safety concern is noticed.
• Must be able to travel for periods up to two weeks at a time to support product launches, make routine scheduled visits, and act as customer's primary technical representative
• Create and control required visual aids, verify each ODS specifies Control Plan and customer requirements including customer / internal SC / CC symbols; approve (sign) the ODS according to the company Operation Description Sheet Requirements work instruction.
• The Quality Engineer is expected to be the expert on the Handling, Identification and Disposition of Non-Conforming Material, to train employees to the recommended practices for his/her area of responsibility, continuously audit area of responsibility for compliance to NONC Procedure and related work instructions.
• Train employees to evaluate and disposition non-conforming material; Establish, approve and maintain Rework / Teardown Instructions; Perform rework and maintain rework / teardown logs; "
• Maintain an up-to-date testing procedures and evidence of compliance to customer requirements set forth on the control plan and customer drawings.
• Follow through with SQE and supplier the processing of engineering changes to implement changes according to plan. Support confirmation measuring activities at CUSTOMER plant.
• Assist with the training of the Quality Technicians of their duties.
• Provide measuring support in troubleshooting activities, to analyze a timely resolution to material and/or any internal problem, which may cause an interruption of product delivery to our customers.
• Set controls in place at assembly operations to ensure compliance with statistical process control requirements to maintain the process within control limits, as specified by Control Plan. Ensure SPC routines and data collection system is set in place; provide continuous capability index reports, lead investigation to correct out of control conditions; train personnel on measurement method and reporting requirements.
• Handle consumer and business customer problems with professionalism, escalating more complex issues seamlessly to the Quality Manager.
• Define all Job Setup / Poke Yoke Verification requirements on the Control Plan, as part of the company Job Setup Requirements work instruction.
• Complete PPAP submission to customer, updates Control Plans and ODS per APQP guidelines.
• Performs other duties deemed necessary by the Quality Manager"
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience:
College degree in Engineering (preferred Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical) Minimum five (5) years of quality experience in the Automotive Industry with emphasis on manufacturing. Preferred minimum of 3 year of experience with metals transformation processes (i.e. Welding, Forming, etc.).
Proven experience with Industry Quality Standards and Statistical Quality Control.
Proven experience with use of general GD&T principles, preferred experience with the use of measuring devices such as Faro Arm and CMM Machine.
Tactical Planning Skills:
Able to articulate and execute tactical planning to address open issues for Customer, Safety, COPQ or Quality System. Using Gantt Charts or similar planning tools.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints and procedure manuals. Candidate can write routine reports and correspondence. Excellent communication skills both written and spoken to be able to properly convey the voice of the customer to the rest of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Candidate can compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Read and interpret blue prints or brown lines, verifying product compliance by utilizing various measurement tools. Advanced statistical and Problem-Solving techniques are required for this job.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs for Mass Production Quality. Candidate can create visual aids for communication purposes. Candidate can create comprehensive reports to customer and management of testing and measurements carried out at the quality lab.
