Key responsibilities

  • Model plumbing systems in Revit for multi-family and commercial new construction projects.

  • Produce coordinated, installation-ready models and shop drawings for field construction.

  • Attend clash detection and coordination meetings in Navisworks, and develop fabrication and layout drawings.

Job description

Southwest Plumbing is a first-tier commercial plumbing subcontractor working directly for the top general contractors in Florida on large-scale new construction ( multi-family, hotel, and commercial projects).

Our BIM department drives how these jobs get built: what gets fabricated, what gets sleeved, what gets hung, and where. We are expanding that team.

What We're Looking For:

This is a plumber's job that happens to be done in Revit. Working knowledge of the software is required.

Most important, we need a plumber with  years of on-site practical plumbing knowledge. Things like:  knowing that the coordinated model won't actually install; that the carrier won't fit the chase; that nobody can swing a wrench in that ceiling pocket; that the riser as drawn puts a cleanout behind finished drywall; or that the engineer's isometric ignores how the slab actually gets poured.

You do not need to be a Revit expert. You need solid, working modeling skills (the level of someone with a couple of years of real production work who is getting better all the time).

Field knowledge is what we weight most. A career plumber with competent Revit beats a Revit specialist with no field time, every time.

If you have spent years in the field as a plumber, foreman, or superintendent and have since moved into modeling then you are exactly who we want to talk to.

Your Role:

  • Model plumbing systems in Revit for multi-family and commercial new construction (sanitary and storm DWV, domestic water, gas, and specialty systems)
  • Produce coordinated, installation-ready models and shop drawings that our field crews can build from without a workaround on every floor
  • Run and attend clash detection and coordination in Navisworks with the GC and other trades; hold your ground on our scope and find real solutions when you can't
  • Develop spool sheets, fabrication drawings, hanger and sleeve layouts, and slab/wall penetration drawings
  • Support the field with as-builts, RFI exhibits, and quick-turn revisions when conditions change on site
  • Work with PMs and estimating on material takeoffs pulled from the model
  • Sanity-check engineered drawings against code, means and methods, and constructability before the problem reaches the field

Job Requirements:

  • Significant hands-on plumbing field experience ( journeyman, foreman, or superintendent level). This is the qualification that matters most.
  • Working production modeling experience in Revit MEP (plumbing discipline):  roughly 2+ years of real project work, with the drive to keep improving
  • Working proficiency with Navisworks for coordination and clash detection
  • Working proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Strong command of plumbing code, fixture units, pipe sizing, venting, and slope
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP construction documents
  • Direct experience on multi-family and/or hotel/hospitality new construction
  • Must live and be authorized to work in the United States, in the Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zone.
  • This is a full-time employee position;  we are not engaging subcontractors, contract firms, or offshore candidates.

We Want to Work with Good People:

  • A down-to-Earth, kind person who will get along with our team
  • A team player who takes ownership and doesn't need (or want) to be micromanaged

Why Southwest Plumbing:

  • We're a stable, established company with long-term contractor relationships and real career staying power
  • You'll work closely with a small team where your contributions actually matter
  • We are a serious company but we enjoy a relaxed working environment (not stuffy corporate)
  • Benefits (add details)
  • 401K matching (add details)

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Send your resume and a brief note about why this role is a good fit.

In your email, please tell us:

  1. How many years you spent in the field, and in what role
  2. The largest multi-family or hospitality projects you have modeled: size, unit count, and your specific role
  3. Which software products you use / are proficient in

Work samples (redacted model screenshots, spool sheets, or coordination captures) will move you to the front of the line.
