The Connect design team creates safe, seamless, and meaningful ways for players to access, express themselves, and connect across the PlayStation ecosystem. Our work spans PS App, Social Experiences, player support, safety, access, identity, and personalization, helping players feel protected, represented, and connected wherever they play.

As a UX Manager on the Connect team, you will lead design for PlayStation App and Social Experiences, shaping how millions of players discover content, communicate, build community, and stay connected to PlayStation beyond the console. Designers on your team work across a range of Connect initiatives, with a focus on creating intuitive, inclusive, and engaging experiences that support meaningful player connections, positive social interaction, and seamless mobile engagement across the PlayStation ecosystem.

In this role, you will partner closely with product, research, engineering, data, and business teams to define strategy, translate customer insights into impactful design solutions, and deliver high-quality experiences at scale. You will be responsible for developing design talent, elevating craft, driving clarity through complex product spaces, and ensuring the team's work balances player needs, business goals, platform capabilities, and long-term product vision.

You will join the Connect design team in a hybrid role based in San Mateo and be part of the broader Sony design organization. You will collaborate with a global network of designers to advance systems thinking, strengthen design quality, and deliver forward-looking, player-centered experiences that help define the future of connection and community on PlayStation.

  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to align on goals, solve complex problems, and deliver high-quality player experiences.
  • Coach and support designers through regular feedback, career development, and performance management.
  • Partner with designers across Sony to drive consistency, adopt design systems, uphold quality standards, and contribute to evolving best practices.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Interaction or Product Design, Human Factors, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years experience as a design leader in a large product design organization.
  • 5+ years of product or UX design experience, including platform or systems-level work.
  • A portfolio that showcases thoughtful, simple, deliberate & intuitive design, with extraordinary  interaction, motion, and visuals.
  • Experience shipping complex, multi-surface experiences (console, mobile, web, or connected devices).
  • Strong systems thinking and interaction design skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, technically complex environments.
  • Experience collaborating closely with cross-functional partners.
  • High level of proficiency with Figma, including components, auto-layout, prototyping, tokens, animation, plugins, etc.
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills.

Bonus

  • Strong understanding of the PlayStation ecosystem, platform strategy, and service landscape.
  • Demonstrated history of leading products from early concept through successful launch at scale.
  • Deep knowledge of player behaviors, gaming culture, and industry trends.
  • Experience operating effectively within globally distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, localized experiences for diverse international markets.
