Job Summary:

The Onsite Production Manager will plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and mentor multi- shift production teams, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance while keeping safe practices first.
  2. Ensure operational efficiency by managing workflows, staffing, scheduling, and productivity metrics while being proactive and reactive to changes as needed daily.
  3. Monitor and enforce quality standards, compliance, and safety protocols across all manufacturing processes in an ISO compliant environment.
  4. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying bottlenecks and implementing strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce waste. Additionally, be a champion of lean processes and lean thinking in all daily activities.

Essential Functions:

The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The employee will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the General and/or Plant Manager. Job duties may change as required by the needs of the company.

  • Is responsible for production performance across all shifts
  • Ensures that shop floor performance meets company expectation with regards to safety, production output levels, scrap levels, department expense budgets, quality levels – PPM performance, impacts to gross margin performance and labor budgets.
  • Ensures that shop floor standards and programs are properly enforced and sustained so operational goals are met and efficiency is improved.
  • Ensures that the facility maintains correct inventory levels to meet customer sales projections and delivery performance.
  • Works closely with Material Management in execution of production schedules and maintains ability to react to changes in weekly production requirements.
  • Ensures training programs for shop floor personnel are developed, deployed and sustained. Makes recommendations concerning required education/training necessary for the production team.
  • Works directly with maintenance, tool & die, and engineering teams on projects and priorities to ensure machine set-up, tooling, and plant maintenance meets the customer and business performance expectations.
  • Is responsible for labor and material availability to satisfy all customers’ ship schedules on time and with expected quality levels.
  • Is responsible for 5S/visual management and overall cleanliness and organization of work areas within and around the facility.
  • Leads the development and sustainment of an operational excellence culture throughout the production team.
  • Is responsible for providing timely communication & collaboration with HR in order to maintain necessary staffing levels and quickly resolve employee issues.

Qualifications, Experience requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Degree from four-year College or University
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registration:
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher equivalent is preferred.
    • CAPM or equivalent project management experience
  • Preferred: five or more years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Metal forming, projection welding, and powder-coating/plating experience is preferred. ISO9001 experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing change in a high-velocity organization
  • Proficient in MS365.

  • Has excellent communication, technical expertise, leadership, problem-solving, and superior analytical skills.

  • Is fully skilled in verbal and written English. Spanish is a plus.

  • Able to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks concurrently with people leadership and coaching tasks.

  • Combines conceptual capabilities with a hands-on attitude.

  • Able to effectively delegate and maintain accountability for junior leaders and individual contributors.
