BILL

Job description

Innovate with purpose
At BILL, we believe in empowering the businesses that drive our economy. By replacing outdated financial processes with innovative tools, we help businesses-from startups to established brands-make smarter decisions and gain control of their operations. And we don't stop there: we're creating the future of financial automation so businesses can spend more time on what matters.
Working here means you become part of a vision-driven team that's ready to tackle challenges and build cutting-edge solutions. We value purpose, drive, and curiosity-and we thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Whether in one of our offices in San Jose, CA, Draper, UT, or in a remote-eligible role, BILLders collaborate to deliver real impact for businesses that need more time in their busy weeks.
BILL builds high performing teams and we seek to hire the best talent for every role. We're committed to building a workplace that fosters inclusion and diverse perspectives, valuing each person's unique skills and experiences. We'd love to hear from you-you might be just what we're looking for, whether in this role or another.
• Let's give businesses more time for what matters.
Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company
Join BILL as a Staff Product Manager on our Payments and Financial Services team and own the product that determines how our customers earn, manage, and redeem rewards across every card we issue. BILL's Rewards Platform is a zero-to-one build at the center of our card economics strategy. Right now, rewards are tracked and paid out through a mix of basic tooling and manual accounting processes, with no centralized platform to manage cost, structure, or scale. Your job is to change that. The Rewards Platform will serve as the financial engine behind rewards across BILL's card products, starting with Spend and Expense and expanding to AP Card, virtual card, and future value-added products.
In this role, you will define the vision, build the platform, and drive adoption across the product teams that depend on it. You will lead the transition from manual, batch-processed rewards to a real-time automated engine that can support configurable reward types, merchant offer programs, referral payouts, and AI-driven personalization. Your work will have a direct line to card contribution margin, customer lifetime value, and the ability to offer rewards structures that our competitors cannot match today. You will partner with Engineering, Data, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Marketing, and external card and banking partners to deliver a platform that is accurate, auditable, and built to scale.
Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute the 3-year vision and roadmap for BILL's Rewards Platform, including a real-time earn and burn engine, configurable promotions and campaigns, referral and advocacy services, and partner integrations.
  • Lead the end-to-end transition from manual, batch-based rewards management to an automated, real-time platform that reduces time-to-reward from days to seconds and eliminates accounting team overhead.
  • Build rewards platform services that multiple internal product teams, including Spend and Expense, AP Card, and virtual card, can consume through well-defined APIs and tooling.
  • Partner with Data and AI teams to develop dynamic, personalized rewards experiences, including smart category bonuses, targeted merchant offers, and lifecycle-based incentives that increase card engagement and top-of-wallet behavior.
  • Work with Finance and the Ledger team to ensure accurate rewards liability accounting, breakage modeling, and financial reporting, and build controls and audit trails into the platform by design.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to ensure that rewards structures, referral programs, and incentive mechanics meet regulatory and accounting standards.
  • Act as the single-threaded owner of the Rewards Platform across Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing, Growth, Finance, Risk, and external partners, communicating trade-offs, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.

We'd love to chat if you have:
  • 6 or more years in product management, with meaningful time spent building rewards, loyalty, or incentives platforms at the infrastructure or services level, not just customer-facing rewards features.
  • Deep fluency in rewards and card economics, including interchange, take rate, rewards cost as a margin variable, breakage modeling, and how rewards structure decisions affect customer LTV, CAC, and card contribution margin.
  • A track record of zero-to-one platform delivery where you defined the problem, set the architecture direction, drove internal adoption, and shipped to multiple consumers, not just a single product team.
  • Strong product craft: the ability to frame ambiguous problems precisely, write clear PRDs, set measurable outcomes, and drive delivery through ambiguity without a fully defined playbook.
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern AI tools, including Claude, Replit, Gemini, or Perplexity, with concrete examples of using AI to accelerate discovery, prototyping, or product development in your current or most recent role.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional programs across engineering, data, finance, marketing, and operations, including influencing senior leaders without formal authority.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience at a loyalty, rewards, or referral SaaS company where rewards was the core product, such as Loyalty One, Annex Cloud, Antavo, or Punchh, or at a technology company known for a sophisticated rewards program built on modern infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with event-driven or real-time data architectures supporting financial use cases, including transaction-to-event-to-ledger flows, streaming systems, or real-time balance management.
  • Background in growth, lifecycle marketing, or experimentation platforms, particularly in the context of designing incentive programs that drive measurable changes in customer behavior.
