Express Employment Professionals in Parma is currently hiring Plastics Compounding Operators for a top plastics manufacturing company. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with great career growth potential in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, and polymer processing.
Job Summary:
As a Plastics Compounding Operator, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining extrusion and compounding equipment to produce high-quality plastic materials. You will handle raw materials, blend additives, and operate single or twin-screw extruders while ensuring product quality meets customer specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate single-screw and twin-screw extruders and plastic compounding equipment for plastic resins (PP, ABS, HIPS, Nylon, PC/ABS).
Load raw materials and additives into feeders or hoppers based on work orders.
Monitor production settings (temperature, pressure, RPM, vacuum) and adjust to ensure proper melt quality and efficient throughput.
Perform quality control checks (melt flow index, color matching, moisture content, pellet uniformity).
Document production data, machine parameters, and report any issues or downtime events.
Troubleshoot mechanical and material processing issues with minimal supervision.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, following OSHA safety regulations and company safety standards.
Assist with machine setups, die changes, and preventive maintenance as required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required - technical training or manufacturing certifications are a plus.
1+ years of experience in plastics extrusion, compounding, or polymer processing preferred.
Basic mechanical skills and ability to safely use hand tools.
Ability to read production orders, SDS, and SOPs.
Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long shifts.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
