Job description


Summary :Sets up and operates plasma cutting burntable to cut heavy gage metal .
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :Sets up machine by retrieving and loading large heavy plates of steel using overhead crane, downloading program, entering parameters of job, selecting type of cut, and cutting first piece. Programs standard shapes.
Operates burn table by monitoring cutting and adjusting heat in torches, pre-heat times, and pierce rate.
Unloads skeleton and parts using overhead crane, jib crane and/or magnets.
Cleans and scrapes parts and cuts up scrap.
Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking material thickness and dimensions of part per blueprint using calipers, tape measure and calculator. Inspects parts according to C=O chart. Completes inspection form.
Cleans burn table and performs minor preventative maintenance such as checking coolant levels and gases and changing or adjusting them as needed. Changes oxyfuel tips.
Completes Plasma Table maintenance log.
Supervisory Duties: None.
Qualifications

Education & Experience :High school diploma or GED. 1-2 years related experience and/or training. Blueprint knowledge preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Three to six months CNC machine operation experience in manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Language Skills :Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
Math Skills :Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Skills :Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
