Job Summary

Description: The Plant Manager will provide leadership for the Youngsville Plant to ensure a positive work environment that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance through the application of Operational Perfection at Southwire. This individual will develop and direct a strong leadership team as we build organizational capability through implementation of the ONE Southwire approach to ensure objectives are met and exceeded. They will also be responsible for understanding key areas of responsibility: Safety, Quality, Material Usage, Scrap, Efficiency, and Resource Utilization. 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

•Drive the Culture of Zero throughout the facility to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and contractors at Southwire. 
•Build and engage employees that support our goals as we Build Organizational Capability, Drive Operational Excellence, and Accelerate Growth. 
•Lead and develop continuous improvement programs to increase employee involvement, ensuring a positive work environment is maintained 
•Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality and shipping and receiving. 
•Requires a strong passion for Southwire’s OPS culture and lean manufacturing principles. Provides direction and leadership to support operational initiatives such as daily huddles.
•Creates ONE Southwire culture at the facility. 
•Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
•Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to resolve manufacturing problems to ensure minimum costs and delays.
•Interface with Materials Management to establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. 
•Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries. 
•Manages capital asset maintenance. 
•Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
•Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
•Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary. Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all quipment.
•Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
•Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs. 
•Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel. 
•Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors. 
•Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and ensures positive work environment.

Qualifications of Experience and Requirements: 


•Bachelor's degree preferred in business or related engineering field along with 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience 
•Previous management experience required 
•Understanding of Lean Thinking principles and demonstrated ability to implement in a manufacturing environment.
•Must possess excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills. 
•Must be PC literate and have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Must have knowledge in SAP and Advaris.
