Job Summary
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the aggregate plant, ensuring efficient production, and compliance with environmental regulations. The Plant Supervisor assists the Plant Manager in the management of mine development through stripping & reclamation operations to achieve optimum utilization at the lowest operating cost. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by enforcing the company's safety policies and procedures, MSHA/OSHA and other regulations.
Essential Functions
• Supervises activities of hourly employees conducting land stripping & reclamation functions. May perform hands-on repair work when necessary.
• Must have good planning skills and able to prioritize objectives.
• Posses results-oriented skills, maintain scheduling while meeting budget parameters.
• Participates in the recruitment process which may include screening and hiring hourly employees
• Schedules department requirements to support daily, weekly and monthly activities to meet the needs of material processing operations
• Individual provides/assists with coaching and disciplinary counseling to employees under his or her area of responsibility.
• Ensures that employees receive proper training and instructions to perform job duties
• Schedule and assign employee's work based on production needs (manpower planning)
• Works with SHE department and Company officials to promote a safe work environment that meets all State and Federal rules and regulations and ensures that the plant meets all SHE policies and practices at the site location
• Works closely with plant management personnel to ensure that mine development & reclamation activities meets their needs and expectations
• Works on the implementation of cost saving programs and/or continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency
• Participates in Operations short and long range business planning
• Participate in department inspections on a regular basis
• Monitor and maintain plant equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and repairs

Responsibilities
Education
• High School Diploma required. BS / BA degree, Associates degree, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.
Experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in conducting land striping & reclamation activities.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred.
• Construction materials industry experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge and understanding of modern principles and practices of supervising employees
• Knowledge and understanding all phases of mine development to supervise the operations of land clearing, stripping, and reclamation for sand & aggregate facilities
• Ability to be hands-on and perform work when called upon
• Able to understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures
• Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations
• Able to develop and establish performance measurements for department; good organization and business planning skills
• Excellent problem solving skills and practices
• Able to establish practices and develop resources to meet or exceed goals and objectives.
Other Requirements
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to drive a pick-up truck on a daily basis.
• Ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
• Work environment will be both indoors in an office and outside in the quarry or plant. In the office employee will occasionally be required to sit at a desk or operator's station. In the outside setting employee will perform activities in unprotected heights, around moving machinery, be exposed to dust, fumes and gases; may be required to use hand tools or power tools. Outside setting will expose employee to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
