Job description

Overview

We are looking for aHead of Strategic Planningto help shape the direction of Physicians Mutual’s future. In this high-impact role, you will lead our enterprise-wide strategic planning process, partnering with senior leaders to align priorities, investments, and initiatives that drive measurable value for our customers and policyowners. You will guide the development of long term and annual strategic plans, ensure companywide alignment, and establish clear ways to measure success. This role will focus on cross-functional leadership, executive influence, and driving results through others. As both strategist and executional lead, you will bring clarity, collaboration, and accountability to the work that moves our business forward.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the company’s enterprise strategic planning process, establishing the enterprise planning cadence and ensuring alignment with short- and long-term business goals.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify opportunities, risks, and dependencies across business areas through multi-year and annual planning, scenario planning, and strategic risk assessments.
  • Mature our OKR framework to improve how we focus the organization and track progress and measure value realization.
  • Provide executive level insights and updates on strategic initiatives, risks, and outcomes.
  • Design and facilitate strategy workshops, leadership sessions, and executive offsites.
  • Build organizational capability for effective strategy execution through tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Incorporate external market and industry insights to inform planning and growth strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to senior leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic planning, business strategy, management consulting, or related leadership roles.
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional teams and influencing at the executive level.
  • Proven ability to simplify complexity, manage ambiguity, and drive clarity and action.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior leaders and Boards.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate insights into business outcomes.
  • Skilled in facilitation, organizational planning, and project or program management.
  • Deep business acumen and knowledge of the insurance industry or related sectors preferred.
  • Demonstrates integrity, inclusivity, and a customer-first mindset in all interactions.
