Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit's Defense Business Unit ("Spirit Defense"). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
  • To oversee the planning, development, and control of the operations business areas in the successful execution of contracts in line with customers schedules, specifications, and cost targets
  • To ensure that appropriate measurements, control, and systems are implemented which focus on and drive operational objectives
  • To promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer focus
  • Plan, monitor and control the utilization of human and material resources to achieve programs and drive performance
  • To assist in the promotion, creation and maintenance of a lean enterprise that will deliver organizational agility in terms of quality, cost, and delivery
  • To effectively motivate & develop staff and manage performance in line with the business goals
  • To work effectively with HR to ensure a productive Labor Union and employee relations environment
  • Develop a culture within the Operations Team of teamwork, accountability, customer focus and continuous improvement
  • Provide direction and purpose to the employees within the Operations Team using appropriate performance management processes
  • Responsible for the effective implementation of Safety, Health and Environment plans for the facility, internal and external
  • Ensure regular and effective communications with Operations employees, employee, or Labor Union representatives on local and Global company issues
  • Interact and liaise with all external Customers and Suppliers and form constructive relations that support the business strategic intent
  • In consultation with HR, implement effective succession planning, people management, development, recruitment, and retention strategies
  • Will own the day-to-day performance, quality, delivery, budget, etc. of your team

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
    • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship)
    • 6+ years of experience in a management role in a manufacturing / operations environment
    • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required together with the ability to interact and with customers and suppliers at all levels
    • Effective planning, problem solving and decision-making skills are also essential
    • Highly customer focused with the ability to liaise at all levels both externally and internally
    • Demonstrated experience of leadership and financial & business acumen
    • Knowledge and experience of lean practice within manufacturing

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor's degree is preferred

Summary Pay Range: $106,300- $163,000
Kansas Tax Credit: Join Spirit AeroSystems' Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years. Click here for more information on the tax credit.
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
