Job description

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Manning Forest Products in Alberta is currently recruiting for a Planning/Silviculture Supervisor.

You'll do:

  • Preparation and submission of operational and reforestation plans.
  • Field work including cutblock and road layout.
  • Management of Division Environmental Certification program.
  • Management of GIS records and general Divisional data.
  • Supervision of commitments made as part of our Forest Management Plan.
  • Communication with Government of Alberta, including various stakeholder groups.
  • Prescriptions, contract administration, contractor supervision, reporting, and budget preparation for reforestation activities.
  • Program coordination with other members of the Planning/Silviculture team and the Operations team.
  • Additional responsibilities include monitoring contractor compliance with safe operating procedures, SFI certifications, and health and safety programs.

 You have: 

  • A forestry, natural resources, or relevant degree or diploma
  • A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation for Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven organizational skills, and a willingness to learn and undertake new challenges
  • Strong proficiency with GIS applications
  • Strong commitment to safety

 Considered an Asset:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
  • Previous leadership experience
