POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Demand Planner plays a critical role in driving accurate demand forecasting and inventory planning to support business objectives. This position is responsible for analyzing market trends, historical sales data, and promotional activities to develop reliable demand plans. They collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure optimal product availability, minimize excess inventory, and improve forecast accuracy. This role is essential for aligning supply with customer demand and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Demand Forecasting:

  • Develop and maintain rolling forecasts using statistical models and business intelligence tools.
  • Incorporate input from sales, marketing, and finance to refine forecast accuracy.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and seasonality to identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate forecast performance and KPIs.

Inventory Planning:

  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to align inventory levels with forecasted demand.
  • Monitor stock levels and recommend adjustments to avoid overstock or stockouts.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP):

  • Participate in monthly S&OP meetings to present forecast insights and align on business strategies.

Promotional Planning:

  • Evaluate the impact of marketing campaigns and promotions on demand forecasts.
  • Adjust forecasts based on promotional lift and post-event analysis.

New Product Forecasting:

  • Develop demand plans fore new product introductions based on market research and historical analogs.
  • Collaborate with product development and marketing teams to align launch strategies.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risk to demand plans and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor external factors (i.e. economic shifts, supply disruptions) that may impact demand.

Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement:

  • Track forecast accuracy and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead initiatives to improve forecasting processes and reduce forecast error.


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analytics.
  3. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools.
  4. Experience with forecasting software (i.e. NetSuite, NetStock).
  5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  7. Understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain operations.
  8. Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  9. Experience in S&OP processes and cross-functional planning.
  10. Adaptability and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
